 WORLD OF RADIO 1403 SUMMARY:
*Despite best efforts of BBCWS to prevent us in Western Hemisphere 
 from hearing them on shortwave, we still can: e.g. 13865 at 1700-1900  
 intended for Western Russia; earlier in our mornings, 11750 
*Some English broadcasts of R. France International, at 1200 and 1600
*Issoudun transmitter site in France now carrying some paid religion
*Radio Vlaanderen Internationaal schedule in Dutch
*Deutsche Welle in Amharic at 1400-1500, which has been jammed by 
 Ethiopia, now on 15410 and 15660, colliding with Chile and Russia, 
 respectively
*Austria via Canada now 1500-1600 on 13775, mixing German and English
*Serbia`s new 6185, English to North America at 0000, 0100l, poorly 
 heard, colliding with Mexico
*R. Bulgaria English schedule
*R. Vilnius, Lithuania, English to North America [both transmissions 
 collide with Chinese jamming]
*R. Ukraine International English schedule
*Don`t overlook the private Ukrainian low-power, R. Dniprovska 
 Khvylia, heard on 11980-LSB
*Radio PMR, Pridnestrovye, appears to be Monday-Friday now on 12135 
 and 6040
*Voice of Russia, audible in North America on good days at 1400-1500 
 on 15660, 1600-1700 on 13855; unlisted 15425 from Far East heard in 
 English from 0100
*Some English broadcasts from Voice of Greece
*Cyprus` Greek semihour on weekends only, on new 5930, et al.
*Algeria`s Qur`an service, allegedly moderate, heard on frequencies 
 relayed via Portugal, UK
*Polisario station from Algeria to Western Sahara heard again on 6300, 
 also MW 1550
*TWR Benin`s new 100 kW on MW 1566 language schedule, heard as far as 
 New England
*Something on 6024.95 in English may be FRCN Enugu, Biafra, Nigeria 
*Equatorial Guinea, 6250, widely reported in evening, occasionally in 
 morning
*SW Radio Africa, for Zimbabwe, 1700-1900 on 12035 is via Norway, per 
 HFCC
*VOA Studio 7 for Zimbabwe, 4930, heard much later than usual due to 
 elexion situation

*Tanzania`s official station renamed TBC, ID heard at 1700 via 
 Zanzibar on 11735; plans external service in English and French to 
 neighboring countries
*Difficult to identify station on 7120.37 at 1500-1700 may be R. 
 Hargeysa. Somaliland with new transmitter
*New clandestine for Somalia is Radio Freedom, of the Alliance of the 
 Re-Liberation of Somalia, Wed & Fri 1330-1400 & 1730-1800 on 7175 via 
 Eritrea, jammed by Ethiopia
*IRIN Radio, a UN agency, has new broadcast via South Africa in Somali 
 at 1730-1745 on 9665, heard in Europe [the other broadcasts mentioned 
 were misidentified, really France; and watch out for Spain at same 
 time on 9665]
*R. Cairo`s new 11550 in European languages 1500-2245, the last 
 sesquihour in English, is off-frequency about 11550.1 and collides 
 with WEWN throughout
*V. of Turkey`s English to North America at 2200-2250 on 6195 is 
 barely audible in Oklahoma; much better new relay via Canada 0300-
 0350 on 7325 was in Turkish by mistake until we contacted the Turkish 
 and Canadian authorities, then English from April 4. 1230 on 15450 is 
 also heard on good days
*Awful buzzy Saudi transmitter heard on 15205 from 1600; English at 
 1000-1230 on 15250 poorly heard in Europe
*Hours of Israeli Arabic clandestine to Lebanon and Palestine, [al-
 Machreq], expanded on 756 kHz, heard in Egypt from 2310 until 0600
*Kol Israel`s only remaining SW broadcast, Persian at 1400-1500+, on 
 11604.97 and 13850 with Iranian bubble jamming on 13849.86
*Radio Pakistan Current Affairs Channel in English on SW; 0300-0400 
 5940, 1600-1645 4835
*Azad Kashmir Radio schedule from Islamabad and Rawalpindi sites in 
 Pakistan proper
*Portugal no longer blocks All India Radio on 11620, including English 
 at 2045-2230, and other frequencies in use then
*IBC Tamil, via Germany to Sri Lanka at 0000-0100 moved again, to 7205
*Lao National Radio, 6130, has English lesson Saturdays at 1412; the 
 seven gongs at 1200 UT heard 2.5 minutes early
*V. of Tibet, based in Norway, says China has stepped up jamming to 
 three blockers at once
*China changing its jamming methods; for a while added some regional 
 channels, then nothing but Firedrake, later with new electronic 
 sounds too
*Firedrake on 5330 heralds another new frequency for Sound of Hope
*CRI relay via Albania at 2100-2200 on 7285, 5960 heard with Easy FM 
 service instead
*Shiokaze broadcast at 2030-2100 jammed by North Korea on 6045 so 
 moves to 5965; and has other anti-jamming alternates
*Kamchatka Radio local programming cutaway from Radio Rossii now at 
 0710-0800 on 5920, colliding with WBOH, ex-clear 6075 at 0810
*R. New Zealand International supposed to be on 9655 at 1100-1300, but 
 sporadically heard on 7145 instead, or 9655 until 1400 instead of 
 6095 from 1300
*VOA Greenville collides with Habana on 6180, both in English at 0500-
 0700 [and VOA has now doubled power, so looks like a radio war]
*Mixup caused VOA programs via Greenville and Bonaire both to be on 
 17895 at same time; resolved by moving Bonaire to 17550, 1830-2030 in 
 French; Greenville 17895, 1830-2100 in English
*After one day on 15420, colliding with DW and BBC, WBCQ moved back to 
 17495
*WWCR-3 moved to 7465 at 1100-1600, better coverage than 12160, 
 including Rock The Universe Saturdays at 1200-1300
*CBC complains to China over blockage of CBC websites; yet CBC has 
 been in bed with the Chicom for years in unimpeded shortwave relay 
 exchanges
*DST started 4 weeks later in Mexico than USA on April 6, former US 
 date; so Radio Educación, 6185, moved schedule forward an hour, 2300-
 1100+, signing on in English as well as Spanish
*Fourth harmonic of La Voz del Níquel, Colombia, heard in Colombia on 
 5600 at 1128
*Radio Pio XII, Bolivia, 5952.45, heard with live broadcast at 0130
*New A-08 Aoki schedule, excellent resource with shortwave schedules

*Propagation outlook from Boulder: A- and K-indices peaking at 30 and 
 6, April 23; solar flux peaking at 80, April 21-28  ###
