[HCDX] Recently Loggings (many)

BRAZIL 11749.83 R. Marumby, 1050 End of PT anmnt by M and into lively ZY
song. //9665 which was stronger but had co-channel QRM. This freq clear
and fady. (Valko 12 August)

PIRATE (EUROPE) 6219.92 Mystery R., 2321-2336, Jazz mx at t/in and then
Dance song. 2334 electronic voice ID and what sounded like e-mail adress
but can't be sure. Good strength. Not as much thunderstorm static
noise. (Valko 12 August)

SURINAM 4990 R. Apintie, 0859 Classical mx at t/in, then canned ID in DT
by M, ad in EG, 1 or 2 more ads, then back to lively instru. mx at
0901. More ads at 0912 check. Strength a little better today but
modulation still very very low as usual. (Valko 14 August)

BRAZIL 9515 R. Novas de Paz, 0958 soft rel. vcl mx, live M anncr in PT,
1001 full canned ID by M w/sev. freqs, QTH, etc. 1002 intro for next
pgm. Very fady. Been checking this recently and seems to either s/on or
fade in between 0930-1000. (Valko 14 August)

BOLIVIA 6155.03 R. Fides, 0109-0200*, Booming live Rom. mx, another Rom.
song, W anncr briefly, then another song. 0123 canned muffled echo anmnt
by W, poss. long pgm promo by M and W over mx mentioning " ?? Bolivia y el
mundo". Another brief anmnt, then back to mx. 6 time ticks at BoH
exactly. M anncr between songs at 0127 and W between songs at 0134. 0137
nice canned echo ID promo by M "Transmite en R. Fides...R. Fides, con ??
magnifico...", promo, then mx cont. at 0139. Another break at 0152
including ID at 0157, and long closing ID w/freqs by M at 0159, then
'rumbling' OC continued till the signal went off at 0205:55. Fairly clear
although audio has a lot to be desired. All anmnts were muffled. This is
prob. the best time/freq to log Fides. (Valko 17 August)

AUSTRALIA 4910 VL8T Tennant Creek, Found on the air here at 0918 w/ABC
nx by M and actualities, //6080. ABC ID ending one report. Still going

canned ID by M over mx as "Desde San Sebastian, Huehuetenango, Guatemala,
Centro America, transmite TGME, R. Buenas Nuevas en 4800 kilocyclos, banda
de 60 metros, y 102.1 frecuencia modulada", then live M w/TC, and back to
mx. Early s/on for them and almost never hear them at this time. (Valko
19 August)

Excellent PNG reception this morning!! These on: 3385, 3365, 3355, 3345,
3325, 3315, and 3275, but no others, not even 3905. Aussies 2310 and 2325
on but not 2485 yet. Also, these Indos were noted on 80 meters; 3995.04,
3987.06, 3976.07, and probably N. Korea on 3959.74. Fading started around
1050. Solar Flux was 89, A Index was 11, and K Index was 2. X-Ray flux
was low and sunspot group 909 was on the waning side of the Sun. No storms
although isolated major storm conditions were possible. If the theory that
conditions improve just prior to a major disturbance, then we can expect
something big in a day or so. We'll see. (Valko 19 August)

PAPUA NEW GUINEA 3355 R. Simbu, 1001 tlk by M in PD but horrible lcl
noise ruining recptn. Went on a reconnaissance mission to local the source
of the noise, and when I came back at 1019 found lively island mx. Lively
Dance mx at 1052 and 1058 checks. 1102 Pop song "How Will I Know" followed
by M anncr w/song anmnts at 1103. 1104 into another Dance/Pop
song. Suddenly went off in mid-song at 1111:22. Good signal and best PNG
behind NBC and RENB. (Valko 19 August)

PAPUA NEW GUINEA 3365 R. Milne Bay, 1024, Soft Island mx, deep-voiced M
anncr w/ment of "tomorrow night", message to/from someone. More island
mx. Modulation a bit low. (Valko 19 August)

NEW ZEALAND 3935.07 Radio Reading Service, 1027 50's style mx through
BoH. Didn't stick with it as I wanted to log ARDS. Hams were ruining
recptn anyway. (Valko 19 August)

AUSTRALIA 5049.93 ARDS, 1032-1101, M in heavily-accented EG being
interviewed by M pgm host to 1041. (checked their Web site to see if they
had any streaming audio. They didn't) 1041-1044 rel-like choral
song. After W anncr at 1045, several Aboriginal vcl songs accompanied only
by a drum instru. 1047 sounded like a presumed EG ID anmnt by M mentioning
"...radio station...Northern...". 1051-1101+ long tlk feature by M anncr
in what sounded like an Aboriginal lang. Was getting horrible 5070 noise
slop QRMing this after 1051. (Already sent e-mails out and hope to get an
e-QSL and stn info!!) (Valko 19 August)

I really wish I could've been up at one of the remote listening sites this
morning. I'm sure ARDS would've been much easier (dare I say
easy??!!). In any event, I hope this is a preview of the upcoming DX season!!

73 Dave
