AIR FM comes to Kanpur town

GOOD NEWS for Kanpurites. From Wednesday they would
have All India Radio FM radio channel bringing to them
a good collection of songs throughout the day.

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Priya
Ranjan Das Munshi, is likely to dedicate the channel
to the citizens on Thursday. The AIR FM could be
accessed even at Bilhaur, Ghatampur, Unnao and
Shuklaganj areas.

The demand for FM channel was raised by the citizens
about four years back but to no avail. Later, Union
Minister of State for Home  Sriprakash Jaiswal, took
up the matter with the Information and Broadcasting
Ministry and succeeded to get the channel for the
city.

Beside providing round the clock entertainment to the
people, the channel would also assist in raising the
revenue for the ministry. It would also give an
opportunity to the local people to participate in
frequently sponsored  radio programmes.

Meanwhile, all necessary arrangements were made at the
Akashwani Centre here for the formal dedication of the
channel to the citizens.

Several young and old citizens expressed they
happiness over  introducing the channel.
