[HCDX] Last DX log before the trip to Cuba

5055 COSTA RICA,   Faro del Caribe, San José MAR 5 0940 - with Spanish Adult Cont. mx and Spanish oldies, ID as "transmite...Faro del Caribe...amplitud modulada..." and possible mention of San José. I thought I heard the ID as La Voz de Cuba, but re-heard it clearly as Faro del Caribe. Also, DX camarade Hans Johnson heard it on 5054.6 as it listed in my 2003 PWBR, but since my Sangean rx works in 1 kHz steps, I listened to it right on 5055. SINPO 34333. Not new, but I don't recall if I heard an ID from them before ! (Chiochiu-QC)

DX'ing from home QTH in Pierrefonds, on Montreal's West Island, QC

As most of you already know, we are leaving for Cuba VERY early tomorrow morning. Also heard this morning: Radio Mil (which had a good signal, but with noise from the neighborhood) and Rebelde on both MW and SW with a special baseball play, but fell asleep at 6, so couldn't do an endurance test for making me able to wake VERY early, as to go sleeping VERY early. Sad !

Got in contact with a DXer there and now I'm going to prepare empty Maxell tapes for recording both awesome local and DX sigs ! Too bad Future Shop don't sell Maxell tapes anymore ! An era of DXing is gone ! Still, I should prepare myself for the Mini-disc recordings.
