Happy 80th Birthday 1020-AM KTNQ

Just released at www.radioheritage.net. Enjoy reading about the
humble beginnings in 1925 of KFVD, now Los Angeles radio station
1020-AM KTNQ and celebrating its 80th birthday this month.

A fascinating story behind the mike, through the chaotic unregulated
early days of KFVD, through the 1930's and the war years and into the
mid-fifties when it became KPOP.

By 1960 it was KGBS, and a great couple of decades as a popular music
station in Los Angeles followed, before flipping to Spanish language
as KTNQ Radio Fiesta.

A richly researched story from acclaimed Californian radio historian
and broadcaster, Jim Hilliker. Exclusive images. Take a detailed tour
of the KFVD years and meet Woody Guthrie and others who made their
name at 1000 and 1020 on the LA dial.

The Radio Heritage Foundation is a New Zealand based non-profit
organization dedicated to protecting, preserving and promoting radio
heritage from around the Pacific Rim.

This is the first in a new series of stories and images featuring
Californian AM radio since the 1920's. Read about KTNQ and many other
popular Pacific radio stations at www.radioheritage.net today.
