[HCDX] 15th DX-Camp Bavaria
Hello to all,
once again the traditional Bavarian DX-camp took place from November 24th to
28th 2004.
Let's concentrate first on the highlights:
On the opening day - the eight 300m-Beverage-antennas were completely
constructed and the distribution system was correctly adjusted - we could
hear R Peace from Sudan quite well on 4750 at around 16.15 UTC.
Remarkable also the quite good conditions towards Pacific as well as the
relatively early reception from PNG-stations. Who did not yet have enough
after close down of NBC Port Moresby on 4890 at 14.00 UTC, could continue
with ABC Alice Springs on 4835 without any problems. And in the evening SIBC
Honiara was audible well over the loudspeaker at dinner time.
On the first evening of the Camp we tried to identify an unknown Latino
station. Starting from 22.10 UTC we could listen to typical huayno music from
Peru on 5050.7, however without any announcement. Unfortunately WWCR blocked
at 23.00 any try of identification. Who does know more?
In the early evening hours of November 26th we could hear a weak station on
4960 with endless instrumental music. Also in this case without any
announcements. Due to the used antenna direction of 50° and due to the
frequency we presumed the new Christian station Catholic Radio Network, which
is operating here since some time.
In the local morning of November 27th the 310°-antenna enabled excellent
reception of R Transcontinental XERTA from Mexico. This radio country offered
still more surprises: Thus our MW-specialists were very happy about the
reception of the Mexican station XEAI R Fórmula on 1470 kHz.
Let's come now to my special personal highlight: There are frequencies, which a DXer observes automatically and by routine for many years. One of it is 2390 kHz. What can be heard there, if something is to be heard? R Huayacocotla from Mexico! I am not sure, if this station has been logged already here in Europe. Unfortunately I could catch the last ten minutes only before QRT at 01.04 UTC. After listening almost 50 times to my recording I'm
relatively sure that I received indeed this rare station.
