I hope this day is not still being celebrated as such in Chile.  Long before
the tragedy of 9/11/2001, 9/11 in 1973 was the anniversary of the
CIA-bankrolled coup d'état that overthrew and killed democratically-elected
Salvador Allende, and installed Gen. Augusto Pinochet, launching a Chilean
reign of terror that continued for almost two decades.
