Hello Gloria,
GRL> Then at 1718, I picked up 17660. I caught the tail end of a male
GRL> newsreader delivering a story on floods in English. It was clear as a
GRL> bell! He finished and the station ID w as "Sudan Radio Service" and they
GRL> said they would go to Arabic (this was about 17:20.)A different male
GRL> voice came on. The signal was fading and it got much noisier. I turned
GRL> back at 1730 to hear a female voice announce "You are listening to the
GRL> Sudan Radio Service" in English. The signal then got much weaker and
GRL> there was lots of noise.
GRL> EIBI has this info: Sudan 1700-1800 M-F CLA OTI Vn SUD 17660
GRL> I am not sure what the codes mean What is ITU (the CLA code is for
GRL> that)..the station is OTI? Language was Vn? Certainly not Vietnamese!!
CLA is clandestins an Vn Vernaculars i.e a language spoken in Sudan.
Sources say Sudan Radio Service is using txs in GB.
Hope that helps.
