I don't think the promise of a new RCI relay site site would do much to
garner Liberal votes, in the next election to be held sometime in 2004 or
early 2005 after Paul Martin succeeds Jean Chrétien (it's an extremely
foregone conclusion that Mr. Martin will become the next Prime Minister).
Most Canadians don't even know that RCI exists. Even as a job creation
project, the number of new jobs generated would be negligible. If this
isn't a hoax and the transmitter were built in one of the few B.C. ridings
held by the Liberals, it would be seen as a payoff or kickback for sending a
Liberal MP to Ottawa.
I wonder if this site was created by a former CBC/Radio-Canada staffer, with
an axe to grind against a former employer.. Financially-strapped CBC has
been laying off people hand over fist.
