[HCDX] ADMIN: virus on the list
Thank you for all of those who brought this to our attention.
There was a virus embedded in the following email which was distributed
to the list yesterday:
From: "Globe Radio DX Club" <grdxc@xxxxxxxxxxx>
Date: Wed, 16 Jul 2003 03:05:55 +0530
Subject: [HCDX] Qs regarding long wires used as antennas
Please don't open the email! It is possible to get infected by reading the email
if your virus protection isn't up-to-date. The virus was cleverly embedded to a
real HCDX email and a small portion of javascript code in the html attachment.
We apologize if this incident caused any trouble to anyone. Our goal is to keep
the list clean of viruses, spams, and non-DXing content. Fortunately cases like
this are very rare and won't get passed unnoticed.
We are working on installing a virus scanners to the incoming email processing. Last
week we implemented advanced spam filtering and next step is to add real-time virus
scanning to all incoming emails.
73!
