Before moving to New Mexico I also read that
it was a "weak listening area" and was expecting the worst. In reality I could
get all the bigger stations I used to get in the East , and the
stations that I lost form leaving there, were more than compensated for by
the stations I could pick up in the Pacific. Living on Mountain Time
also turned me into a regular ABC (Australia) listener since I could
tune in at one, instead of at 3 in the morning. ABC's Pacific news coverage is
still the best I have ever heard. Oddly, RFPI did not come in well at all,
as compared to back in Maryland. My equipment at the time was modest.
