Yesterday the Dutch authorities have been discussing the actions against the Dutch pirates in the government. It seems that lots of politicians are supporting in some strange way the Dutch pirates and lots of them are speaking of missing the pirates. Also some idea's have been launched how to let them stay active. some of them are: A special spot on the 2/3 meter band for the pirates where they can transmit or just letting them be as long they don't mess up and don't interfere with other official stations. It is a very known fact that most of the pirates are observing frequency's very careful before using it and if the power is not to big they could use it without interfering something. Pirating the airwaves is a thing that is existing in the Netherlands just as long as there has been official radio and TV. Our thoughts is they own the right to be there as they have been there so long. Also pirate stations did so much for the history of Dutch radio. Just take a look at the long list of dj's that started their career with pirate radio, Pirate radio also played in the early days the music none dared to play, now we hear it every day. Looking at the North East part of the Netherlands we see a huge pile of pirate stations that are playing Dutch folks music that the official stations never play. Also a reason for existing rights. Talking about Pirating we also drift in our thought to the war here in Europe in the 40's. Lots of the resistance use illegal home brew transmitters to contact London witch is also a somekind of pirate radio. I could write here for hours with the why's and how's but it all comes to the same.. I hope Pirate radio get's his change to survive all over the world. If the governments are willing it could be done, only get them willing could be a problem. We hope not.
