 FM DX:
87.8 - apparently a Pirate heard in a
parking while my father was buying ice and water at a shop. Heard very distorted
on 87.7, 87.9 and was barely detectable on 88.1, with reagge or soca music, on
4/19 1957 EDT
94.3 - unID rock music on 4/19 at 1953
EDT
99.9 - unID "Star 99.9" with the start of "Love
Songs at Night" (a program that is also carried on WHOM 94.9 according to what I
read on their web-site) and after the woman speaking about the pgm, started
playing a 1989 soft AC song at 2001 EDT. Weak in / off stereo on a poor-fair
signal.
99.9 - (pres.) WBTZ 99 9 The Buzz - Plattsburg, NY
at 1959 EDT faded up over Star 99.9 via tropo-scatter with alternative rock
mx.
100.3 CJMJ "Magic 100 point 3" - Ottawa, ON on 4/20
at 1713 in and out via TrS on the car-radio near the Canadian border with ID w/
ment. of Ottawa followed by Savage Garden song. We were 260 kilometers from
Ottawa when my father turned the radio on (after I sleeped an hour and half in
the car !) wich is quite a catche ! Before I did sleep, we listened to "Today's
Rock 100.3 The Point".
104.7 WEIM - Fitchburg, MA - on 4/19 at 2003 EDT
presumed with mention of "Boston" over "Key 104-Key 107". Really pleased with
this presumed catche !
106.1 unID - on 4/19 at 2005 EDT playing "Don't
Mess With My Man" by Nivea, good signal but with very intense splatter from WCAA
105.9 wich had a meringue music show, so after the great Nivea song ended I
tuned to AM and heard my home local CINF Infos 6-90 instead of staying with the
WCAA ACI QRM.
Interesting non-DX stations we listened
to:
93.1 WPAT "Amor 93.1" - New York, NY - mostly
listened to them in the hotel room on the Sangean 606 on 18/4 with love songs
mostly in SP, but also heard one Celine Dion song. Even heard some Mexican
corridas on the mroning of 19/4 wich were a bit different from the rancheras I
heard on XEX 730 on the 18th evening of APR (one of my best AM DX catches from
this trip) later that evening on the Sanyo radio. They played Spanish Pop
music Ballads and also some bachata on the mroning of 4/19.
95.9 CJMF "Mix 96" - Westmount (Montreal), QC - we
did listen to this station on 4/18 in Canada and in the USA until we left
Platsburg when the reception deteriorated too much. They played quite some dance
music !
97.9 WSKQ - New York City, NY - on the mornign
of 4/19 heard a Puerto Rican-style of salsa, presumably Johny Rivera; a song I
also heard on WRCA "La Nueva Cadena 13-30" in November 2000 while AM DX'ing here
in Pierrefonds !
102.7 WNEW "Blink FM" - New York City, NY -
with interesting ID "It's physically impossible not to blink...", lots of
great music and even heard two eurodance songs ("Mr. Vain" by Culture Beat
and "Sweet Dreams" by La Bouche).
103.5 WKTU "the new 103 5 'KTU, The Beat Of
New York" - New York City, NY - with almost only dance music, lot of techno
(Jocelyn Enriquez wich has also done some new-school freestyle, Whytnei Houston
and some techno remixes of pop/rock songs), R&B (Arkeli, Jennifer Lopez et
al and a R&B song from 1989, "Around The World"), 80's funk, house (they
played among others "Vogue" by Madonna), 70's disco (such as "Off The Wall" by
Michael Jackson, "Ring My Bell" by Anita Ward or early disco hit from 1974
"Never Can Say Goddbye" by Gloria Gaynor), eurodance (there was an eurodance
song that seemed very popular and was played at least 5 times per day, something
"...when the sun comes down" likely a very recent High-Energy song, not like the
90's Culture Beat or La Bouche heard on "Blink"), Madonna (American Life was
another song played over and over) and quite some freestyle. Heard "Say It's
Gonna Rain" by Will To Power, "Let's The Music Play" by Shannon along with
others even better songs and promos for nightclubs with freestyle
music such as "Change On Me" by Cynthia,
"Dreamin' by Stevie B." or "One Way Love" by TKA. They occasionnally played
some Adult Contemporary music, but at least 95% of the songs were dance. They
were very repetitive with some songs, but those songs are not the boring
soft-rock Adult Contemporary things you hear on Cité Rock Détente, 105 7 Rythme
FM or Star 92.9 WEZF Burlington here in the Montreal area. Aside from the great
dance music, they were also interesting in the fact that they gived away V.I.P.
tickets for Madonna fans if they called the station and that it was a "once in a
lifetime opportunity" to meet Madonna, take an autograph, make photos with her
or shake her hand. A really great station that I'd really, really love to get
here by tropo trought CJLM "M 103 5 La radio qui me fait de l'effet" CCI and
CKRK "K103" ACI QRM  !!!!!!!!!!!!
104.9 WZMR "Smooth Jazz 104.9" - Albany, NY -
played a nice mix of mid-tempo jazz and New Age music, I really regret not
having taped them ! I would really love if they could get thought CJLA Radio
Fusion - Lachute, QC wich is very strong and still readable with not much CFXM
wich is also on 104.9 in Grandby here in Montreal, via tropo !!
Bogdan Alexandru Chiochiu
Aurel Chiochiu's (my father) Mazda Protégé
car-radio
Also in the motel room with Sangean 606 and
telescopic whip and Sanyo MCD-S830 with the almost completely broken telescopic
antenna !
Any help with the unIDs will be verry appreciated.

To end this report, I don't think NJ and NYC are
good places for FM DX though, because of too many locals and not enough clear
channels, even for routine mid-sumer one-hop Es to powerfull 100 kW stations in
Oklahoma et al.
That's it for now !,
73 and good DX,
Bogdan
