[HCDX] EC-130E Commando Solo
Yes indeed! Bob, David and I certainly enjoyed the visit.
At one time, a couple of photos from that airshow were
posted on the then NU Site & Sound web page. The 193rd were
also at the 2001 airshow (which was my third 193rd
encounter -- the first one in the mid-90's didn't allow for
a walk-through). The 2001 walk-through was very casual (I
think I could have squeezed off some shots when nobody was
looking, but was paranoid the flash would have given me
away). I too caught that NPR special on the 193rd; it was
very good! A similar piece ran on the news wires a few days
ago (forget if it was AP or some other), reprinted in many
newspapers. Now one must wonder if the days of huge
all-military sponsored airshows has come to an end. (The
EC-130E's are to be replaced by the new J model, beginning
this year, per one crewman.) I logged and QSL'ed them for
their Haiti PsyOps broadcasts, on 1035 kHz as logged here in
FL years ago.
