[HCDX] EWE Antenna

Hi everyone:

The EWE antenna seems to be doing a good job even though reception
conditions continue to be poor. I did hear KIPA-620-Hilo HI mixing with
KDBZ-Portland tonight, which is an improvement. So far the last couple
of nights, Tahiti-738 & Tonga-1017 seem to be the only other Pacific
stations heard. I do notice the null on the 5K ohm pot at the far end of
the EWE is very sharp since I added the counterpoise. Infact it seems
sharper than the pot at the end of the old EWE. I have also noticed an
"enhanced" coastal effect as I now can hear KCST-1250-1KW-Florence OR
during the day very weakly (The don't get out), and have a deep null on
the 5KWer in Seattle on the same freq. Also for the first time in years,
I have heard KURY-910-1KW-Brookings OR near LSS mixing with powerhouse
KKFX-Vancouver, WA. KURY is another one that does not get out past the
South coast. Now if the antenna will work well to the NW, when the JJ &
KK DX rolls in this Fall, but time will tell. It looks good though.
