[HCDX] Antennas

I don't remember who was asking about the length an antenna has to be
before it becomes directional off the end. I now use 400 feet of wire
about 3-5 feet off the ground running through swampy soil much of the
year through the brambles and I find it quite directional. This runs to
the NNW (350 degrees). Infact when I used to have 2,000 feet running I
found it too directional. I don't know if being over wet soil has
anything to do with it, I have it terminated to 3 or 4 rods at the end.
I have it fed with RG58 and a homebrew matching transformer. It
regularly gets KRSA-580-Peterburg AK and KTKN-930-Ketchikan, AK when cx
are decent. None of my other antennas generally receive either station.
