Hi Dan,
Thanks for the notice regarding the Worker-Communist Party of Iraq's
announcement regarding their radio station. It appears to be the same
clandestine radio operation they have been running since 1996.
The Voice of the Iraqi Communist Workers Party has been inactive, according
to monitoring reports, since mid-1999. If the news of a new 19m frequency
is true then it means they have most likely found a sponsor outside of Iraq
to broadcast their programs. This makes sense as Saddam's long-term health
remains in doubt and his immediate future is in question with the Bush
administration's anticipated support for the main democratic opposition
group, the Iraqi National Congress - whose own Radio Hurriah should hit the
airwaves early next month.
Get set for an exciting year for the airwaves over Iraq.
