[HCDX] Indian postal strike ends

Postal strike ends

NEW DELHI: The 11-day national postal strike ended on Monday, with the
largest of the three employee unions, the NFPE, deciding in the evening to
follow the other two unions in calling off the stir.

The two others, FNPO and BPEF, signed a compromise agreement with the Union
postal department, ending the stir on Sunday. The NFPE refused to sign,
saying it was unsatisfactory. However, and although its members obeyed its
leaders' instructions through the day on Monday, the leadership decided at a
late-evening meeting to end the stir.

The postal department says the entire backlog of mail will be cleared within
three days and all services will be fully normalised all over the country by
Tuesday morning.
