[HCDX] Australia Satellite News
Hi dear DXers!
This special information is to "Satellite Fans":
Satellite Deal Supports Rural Access.
Australia's Telstra Corp. and Asia Satellite Telecommunications
(AsiaSat) have signed an agreement in which Telstra will use
AsiaSat's satellite capacity to support broadband satellite services
primarily for hard-to-reach-areas of Australia and for the
Asia-Pacific region.
The move is part of a larger initiative by Telstra, once a state-run
monopoly that is still half owned by Australian taxpayers, to push
beyond its Australian borders and into Asia.
Telstra's chief Ziggy Switkowski recently told shareholders that he
wants 20 to 25 percent of Telstra's value to come from the Asian
market.
