Got up at 1145 UTC [4:45 a.m. local] to check
for reception. We need more magnetic storms! I was mostly looking for PNG and
found them on:
3204.966 [still noted on this "off" frequency], 3315, 3325, 3335, 3355, 3385, 3905, and 4890 kHz. I heard an Indonesian, RRI, Ternate Maluku {ex.
Spice Islands where there is mucho civil unrest!}, and Indonesia again on
3385.245 kHz [Kupang, Timur].
The PNG stations shutdown for the day at 1200
UTC. The station on 3204.996 [R. Sandaun, Vanimo] went off the air at about 1204
UTC, later than the others. All the signal strengths were fairly good between
-80 and -100 dBm. The 4890 kHz station in Port Moresby was clearer than
local AM MF stations!
At 1200 UTC on 5 MHz I could hear clearly and loudly: WWV, WWVH, JJY noting CW for "U", i.e. uncertain conditions, and BPM {China}. Tom Roach
