PROPAGATION BY GLENN HAUSER. The summer season usually brings to life
the FM, TV and low VHF bands, so here is some information on
specialized propagation and conditions including e-skip, backscatter,
tropospheric, meteor, F2 skip, aurora, trans-equatorial and
lightning. http://www.anarc.org/wtfda/propagation.htm#top
(Sheldon Harvey, QC, Radio HF Internet Newsletter July 7)

I must have written this 25-30 years ago; I suppose it holds up
fairly well for something that old, tho the days of morning test-
patterns are long gone with mostly 24-hour operation (gh)

** BOLIVIA.

(Henrik
Klemetz, Suecia, July 9, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CANADA [non]. WHRI did not fail this week to broadcast the AWR
Wavescan special from Toronto, Sun July 9 at 1200 on 6040; but I
quickly confirmed it was the same one, #289 starting with an
interview with Bill Matthews, as ondemand at http://www.awr.org
(Glenn Hauser, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** COLOMBIA. Clandestine: Voz de la Resistencia, Comando Conjunto de
Occidente, 6240, July 2 *1300-1340*, SIO 454, heard in Popayán, also
IDing as Voz de la Resistencia, Cadena Bolivariana, Comando Conjunto
de Occidente, transmitting here daily (Yimber Gaviria, Colombia, July
8, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ERITREA/ETHIOPIA [non]. The Eritrean and Ethiopian communities
here in Europe are larger and more active than one might think. As a
link between different groups active here it makes some sense to have
a radio program, at least as a symbol of political activity. Most of
these people do know very well what shortwave is as they have used it
back home. And I have met several of them here in Germany who still
listen a lot to shortwave for getting information about HoA issues
the German / European domestic media normally do not provide. vy73
(Harald Kuhl, Germany, July 8, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** Finland. 5 July 2000 [Radio Finland Web site]: Radio Finland has
suspended its weekly one-hour English broadcast for the summer. The
Radio Finland Web site indicates that the broadcast is "on hiatus
from June 25 until August". The suspended broadcast is normally
scheduled at 2300-2400 UTC Saturday to Asia and the Pacific, 0000-
0100 Sunday to North America, and 0800-0900 Sunday to Europe. Radio
Finland continues its daily 15 minute broadcasts. (Andy Sennitt, RN
Media Newsdesk July 8 via DXLD) Indeed, nothing on 11985 or 13770
July 9 at 0000 (gh)

** GERMANY. I regard the current HF relays of the "Berlin Love
Parade" event to be an enormous and puerile waste of costly
transmission resources and time.

Here in Melbourne, 9405 is heard right throughout our morning from
2200-0200+, causing unnecessary QRM to FEBC Manila co-channel.

Just who is paying for this rubbish? DW has announced cutback plans
due to financial limitations, yet we have this outpouring of
infantile, sexually orientated, obnoxious, drug-pushing trash,
polluting the airwaves, using transmitter capacity which would be
better utilised for DW programming. To my ears, this is pure
garbage!!! I'd be interested in other views!

(Bob Padula, Surrey Hills, Victoria, Australia, July 9, Electronic DX
Press via DXLD)

** KOREA SOUTH. RKI is on new 15575 for English at 2100 (Chris
Hambly, Victoria, July 5, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

And are about to launch a redesigned murtiringuar homepage July 10,
per RKI SW Feedback I have just listened to at 1937 UT July 9. I have
found their realaudio much easier to access from the top of the
Korean-language KBS homepage http://www.kbs.co.kr (Glenn Hauser, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** MALAYSIA. Tonight I could hear Malaysia's Radio 4 on 15295 kHz
again. In the news bulletin, there was this item: "Radio Television
Malaysia, RTM, will be temporary using the International broadcasting
Centre, the IBC, for its radio operations, for repairs are being made
to the ... radio, which was hit by fire on Friday. Information
minister ... ... says the government has in fact approved an
allocation for upgrading the station ... ... ... . (Then there was a
sentence I couldn`t clearly copy. It was also said that the IBS would
not be able to accommodate all units of RTM)." 73, (Mark Veldhuis,
the Netherlands, July 8, hard-core-dx via DXLD)

** OKLAHOMA. Three co-owned FM stations here in Enid have swapped
frequencies today, in preparation for the move of one of them into
the Oklahoma City market, but the situation is rather confused,
thanks to the local newspaper. See two new items dated July 9 and 8
in http://www.angelfire.com/ok/worldofradio/Oklahoma5.html (gh, DXLD)

** PERÚ. Hello again, last night I heard an LA-station on 6672.93
kHz, which undoubtedly was a Peruvian. At first I supposed to receive
Radio Súper Nueva Sensación, which was operating on 6674 some time
ago. Later on I could catch a clear ID: Radio Andina. What a
surprise! Unfortunately I sometimes had heavy utility-QRM. On that
reason I was not able to pick up the name of a town or location. I
believed to hear Ayacucho, however I'm not sure. Who has more
information? Has this station something to do with R Andina on
4995.6? The logging in detail: 6672.93 Radio Andina, July 8/9, 2335-
0010, Spanish, huayno music and comunicados, advertisement, several
IDs. SINPO 22322. I prepared a sound file in Real Audio format.
Please let me know, if you have interest. vy 73 (Michael Schnitzer

DX-One Professional; Location: Hassfurt, Germany; hard-core-dx via
DXLD) Here`s the answer:

** PERÚ. 6672.9, RADIO ANDINA, July 8 1038-1204: New Peruvian station
noted today July 8 at the 1038 with vernacular music; for one moment
I think that is Radio Super Sensación, but at 1100 "...está usted
After the pgm:
Pueblo Despierta. "...mis amigos tengan ustedes muy buenos días a
partir de este momento para presentar su programa Pueblo Despierta,
un programa que llega a usted con el gentil auspicio de Radio Andina
de Huancabamba que en esta oportunidad está transmitiendo en la onda
corta en los 6672 kilovatios..." Ments of Manuel Campos Ojeda as
Director and QTH in Calle Huascar No. 201 en Huancabamaba, Piura,
Perú. Phone 4731-4 This station maybe formed with the Radio Super
Sensación's equipments, very good signal.

cual es: Radio Amistad have the official e-mail address:
radioamistad@xxxxxxxx POR FAVOR NO enviar informes de recepción a
otras direcciones. PLEASE do not send reception reports to other
email address.
de semana de 22 a 23 UTC They still use 4515 Khz only week ends from
22 to 03 UTC. Muchas Gracias. Thank You (SPACEMASTER, July 8, DX
LISTENING DIGEST) Note the disparity in times quoted in Spanish and
English. I suppose the English be correcter, let`s hope (gh)

** PERU. 6045.52, Radio Santa Rosa 0935 July 7, Religious hymns, 0944
canned ID and promos. Weak but clear signal. (Mark Mohrmann, VT, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERÚ. I have been hearing for the past week a station with a good
signal on 3375 and trying to ID the location. Today at sign-off I
was possible to identify that R. San Antonio is in Arequipa
department. I am asking a friend in Perú at R. San Antonio de Atalaya
to help ID the location of this one if it is the same. It seems to be
a new Peruvian (Rogildo Fontenelle Aragão, Cochabamba, Bolivia, July
8, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERÚ. 4904.76, Radio La Oroya, La Oroya; 1113-1116 poor on
08/JUL/2000, with the morning folklore program "Feliz Amanecer". At
1114 several advs for stores in La Oroya and Huancayo. ID was given

On 5855.62, Radio Univisión 2000, Soritor, Province of Moyobamba,
Department of San Martín; was the new shortwave broadcaster, first
noted on June 17, 2000 by Björn Malm. I noted that the station is
similar in name to Radio Univisión Satélite, an FM station operating
on 91.3 MHz with callsign OCW9W from Nueva Cajamarca, Department of
San Martín, and carries its signal on the vicinity of the frequency
on which Radio Nueva Cajamarca was observed on the drifting frequency
range between 5856.8 and 5860 kHz while being active in 1999. Radio
Nueva Cajamarca has not been heard since several months. So I think
that Radio Univisión 2000 has relation to these broadcasters in Nueva
Cajamarca, two hours and 30 minutes from Moyobamba (very near from
Soritor) along the Marginal Highway, or maybe nothing. (TIN)

On 5617v Radio San Juan; which was reported by Malm SW Bulletin via
Glen Hauser DXLD, is seemingly located in the District of Reque, the
Province of Chiclayo, Department of Lambayeque. (TIN) (all: Takayuki
Inoue Nózaki, Tokyo, Japan, Relámpago DX via DXLD)

** U S A [non]. 17735, 2015 UT World Beacon, Transmitter?? ID and
Religious programme in parallel to 17665 & 7360 kHz in English.
Appears to be yet another unnannouced frequency. 73's (Graham Powell,
UK, July 8, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ZIMBABWE. ZBC vernacular program is back on 4828, noted July 8 at
2130-2215* in the absence of Alice Springs 4825 (Chris Hambly,
Victoria, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ###
