[HCDX]: weekend DX (auroral conditions)
I got a shot at some auroral DXing on Friday evening and early
Saturday morning from West Yarmouth, MA.
Best catch was Argentina on 1630 kHz. This hit a good peak
at 0039 UTC (8 APR). Aside from that, I had some routine
Venezuelans but mostly very good signals from closer-in
stuff from the Caribbean: St. Kitts (555, 830), British
Virgin Islands (780), Bahamas (810, 1540), Turks and
Caicos (530), etc. Cubans were all over the dial: some
of these were as good as the 50 kW stations from Boston
and New York. The best Trans-Atlantic was Canary Islands
on 621: not an uncommon front-runner during auroral
conditions.
