WORLD OF RADIO ON SPIRITUS MOVENS, VILNIUS, LITHUANIA, 99.3 FM:

Yes, but with a different schedule starting April 2. Now, WOR is on
the air Mon 0500, Tue 1400, Wed 2000 UTC. I made some reshuffling of
all the broadcasts to accommodate them in such a manner that we do
not depend on summer/winter schedule changes. Thus, there are no more
direct rebroadcasts, everything is recorded and played a little bit

** GERMANY? With reference to the station heard on 9.42 there is an
English station called NRG (pronounced energy) which broadcasts what
could well be ``techno`` music (I'm not au fait with modern music).
It broadcasts on 107.6 to the Bournemouth / Poole area and could well
have been what was heard. Dunno why it would be on SW but of course
another English local station, Sunrise, did relay via Julich for a
while. Kai's statement about the nasty letter from Paris is off the
mark. The nasty letter should be from Dublin, the original NRG (Nova
ReGenerated) operated there in the 80's.

Whilst on the subject of odd relays on the morning of 7th March
Atlantic 252 was relayed on 6.21. My guess is it was a pirate, but

** GREECE. Checking out the previous report of English at 0200 from
VOG, UT April 5 15630, 12110 etc did not have English, but mostly
music at this hour; and at former English time of 0300 there was
music and Greek talk. Has VOG virtually ceased broadcasting in
English, which with a few exceptions was limited to some 10 minutes
of news on a number of transmissions? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING

** GUATEMALA. Hopefully me as the one from Washington state mentioned
on R. Verdad per GH in DXLD as I did send a report to Ap. 5,
Chiquimula, on 20 March. This could be a good sign! Not being able to
understand the name hardly surprises me as it's difficult enough in
printed form; much less bouncing 2500 miles through static crashes

The mentioned Washington again the next morning; informal mailbag
seems to be around 1135 (gh)

** HUNGARY [non]. As per WRMI?s new sked posted on website in advance
of April 2, I did hear R. Budapest at 0330 UT Tue April 4 on 7385.
However, another sked effective April 2 which WRMI distributed, via
Hans-Joachim Koch, shows Viva Miami and UN Caribbean Echo instead for
local Monday. Perhaps Budapest was a one-shot, test, or it did not
work out. Furthermore, there is no indication of R. Polonia or
Slovakia relays in the newer version! (Glenn Hauser, DX LISTENING

** MONGOLIA. Glenn, The only good result of Daylight Shifting Time is
that I get up an hour earlier UT and can notice some things I might
have missed. For example: Voice of Min-gewl-ya has moved EG xmsn to
AUS to 1030 UT on 12085 kHz; heard with good signal on 4/3. Announced
further EG as 1500 to S. Asia and 2000 to EUR, both on 12015//12085.
We are now at one of the best times of year to hear them, with
grayline conditions around 1050-1130 UT to ECNA. 73, (John Cobb, GA,

R. Ulaan Baator naame (gh)

** PAPUA NEW GUINEA. 4890 has been ``not heard`` here on the W coast
of NAm for 2 nights. Here's a logging from 9675 two nights ago:
Papua New Guinea 9675 Karai National Radio 0655 APR 3. M anncr with
Pop mx program. ID as Karai National Radio at 0653, then into a short
public service announcement ``transmission reduction in broadcasting
due to the transmitter work. We are now broadcasting from 6 A.M. to
10 P.M. Daily``) Then back into PNG Pop Mx (local Pidgin Pop and
Country Western with wailing guitars). ID ToH [top of hour] as both
NBC and Karai National Radio, Into News Brief in English by M. More
music at 0704. At 0707 another mention that they were only
transmitting 6 AM to 10 PM and that this was ``necessitated by
transmitter work....very important transmitter work``. A few moments
later the transmission turned into a garbled mess - poor modulation
(did the transmitter finally go?). Not heard on 4890; 9675 not
normally audible here in PacNorWest at this time since last October

** PAPUA NEW GUINEA. Maybe I'm on a different West Coast. At 1117 UTC
on Monday 4/3/2000 UTC I clearly heard PNG on 4890.001 KHz with a
signal strength of between -90 to -95 dBm. The male speaking was
giving a Bible lesson on Jeremiah 33 with several "amen" types
grunting in agreement as is often done on such broadcasts. There was
some QRM [slight] from what was probably some sort of digital signal
that almost sounded like a jammer. Signal was SINPO 33343 I am fairly
certain I could have heard this signal on my NRD-525 with a longwire.
I have it recorded on DAT or so my written records indicate. Such are

** PERU. Actual frequency of R. L. V. de las Huarinjas, reported by
Inoue in DXLD 00-48 is 6819.55. It disappeared from originally
distributed version in editing thanks to peculiarity of MS Word which
likes to treat leading numbers as list headers. BTW, correxions such
as this when found are made immediately on the master archive version
of DXLDs on our website, so if you have a question, check that first

** PORTUGAL. One of VOA`s best frequencies here where it doesn`t
matter, and I am sure overseas where it does, 15580, continues to be
marred by strong co-channel from Portugal, as noted again at 2000
check April 4 (Glenn Hauser, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ROMANIA. Contrary to previous report, RRI was on 9570 //11940 in
English at 0233 check April 5, and WYFR was on 9505 blocking anything
on 9510. No sign of China via Cuba on 9570 any more at this hour

** RUSSIA. Re: DXLD 00-48: > Tatarstan 08-09 UTC 11915 kHz (beamed to

Hi, heard this morning (4 APR) starting at 0800 on 11925 kHz (another
change!). The carrier was on already since 0720 (Karel Honzik, the
Czech Republic, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** RUSSIA. Hello Wolfgang, Here is the A00 monitored schedule of the
Voice of Tatarstan:
0400-0500 11665
0600-0700 9690
0800-0900 11925
In Ru on We (0800) and Th (0400 & 0600). All other broadcasts are in
Tatar (including Ru news bulletins and wx forecasts on week-days).

** U K. BBC Radio 4`s ``Inspiration`` quiz show, Wed 1230 UT,
mentioned here previously, I discovered April 5 is blocked from
webcasting for rights reasons. See http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4 It
remains to be seen whether the other new show, Struck Off and Die,
Wed at 2200 UT is also blocked. The programme schedule does not
specify which shows are unavailable; you have to try each one. It is
not feasible to tune in Radio 4 on my radio from here as they

** U K. The BBC`s new setup is a royal mess. Sackville and Antigua
carry different streams much of the time - not necessarily a bad
thing, but published programme schedules are virtually useless.
Example: Tuesday April 4 at 1505 UT I want to hear Discovery: Science
Friction, but 15220 and 9515 keep running news past this hour. 17840
Antigua which is now masked by splat from 17845, and 11865, by splat
from WEWN 11875, apparently have the Discovery show. One of the
online streams, the info and entertainment one, stays with news. BTW,
on page 30 of BBC On Air for April, it says this Discovery series
starts April 7, whilst on page 45 it says April 4.

At 1530 we are supposed to get Essential Guide: Brazil, on the Am
stream, but instead on the cable TV relay we get here off and on,
there was a documentary on the guy who systematically walked out with
KGB secrets and gave them to the west.

Earlier on Tuesday, I checked 9740 which is the East Asian/Pacific
stream, right? Ending at 1159 was UK Top 20, which according to the
sked for this stream is Tuesday at 2330 local, i.e. 1530 UT, not
1130; I cannot find that show scheduled on any of the streams at
1130, unless it is the unshown private feed to New Zealand where that
would be 2330 local (Glenn Hauser, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U K. Glenn, On Apr. 4, I heard the European Stream on 6175 from
0030-0100 with a news program, while 5975 had the scheduled American
Stream program of rock music. It was nice to have a choice! On Apr 5
0030-0100, both 6175 and 5975 carried the American Stream program of
rock music (Ivan Grishin, Ont., DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U K. The BBC appears to have restored full service of the Americas
stream to 6175 kHz. between 0000 and 0400, as of today (evening of
April 4 in New York). 6175 had been inadvertently diverted to
carrying the New Zealand stream the first two evenings of the BBC's
new schedule.

As an aside, in cataloging the problems that have arisen in the past
and then arose most recently with the new schedule, it appears that
such problems largely have centered around frequencies used on behalf
of the BBC by the Sackville, NB transmitting facility of RCI. (John

changes before then? Assumed by some bureaucrat ignorant of how SW

** U S A. Greetings from Miami. Below you will find the new WRMI
schedule in effect as of the local time change here in North America
which took place April 2. Major changes worth noting include:

A new program called ``Worldbeat USA.`` Host Tony Bourne is from
Trinidad (but now lives in the Miami area), and he plays hit music
from the Caribbean, North America and Latin America. This show airs
UTC Tuesday-Saturday from 0030-0100 on 7385 kHz to North America; and
UTC Saturday from 2000-2200 and Sunday from 1500-1600 on 9955 kHz to
the Caribbean and Latin America.

A new airing of AWR's DX program ``Wavescan`` UTC Thursday at 0330-
0400 on 7385 kHz to North America.

Another new music program called ``This Lousy Half-Hour Radio Show``
with host Charlie Kaufman playing a wide variety of music, especially
oldies from the 1960's. This is UTC Sunday at 0330-0400 on 7385 kHz
to North America, just prior to the popular music program ``Scream of

** VIETNAM [non}. The VOV relay via RCI Sackville still has not
settled into reliability. UT April 5 the 0230 English on 9695 was
replaced by fill music, but from 0300 on 9795 Spanish appeared, 0400
