[HCDX]: New ILG Software

Hi,

There is a new browser available for the ILG database. The new software has
been created by Gerd Niephaus and is freeware. You will find a link on the
ILG download page to download the new software. The new browser resembles an
Excel spread sheet but it's time controlled which allows to filter out radio
stations which are not currently on the air. It works excellent and I can
highly recommend it to anybody.

The installation of the new software requires Microsoft DAO. Also, the ILG
databases (.dbf files) will have to be converted to a new format . The
resulting database is only half as big in size as the original ILG
databases. The program will do the conversion for you (use the "create"
command in the "Database" menu). You will only need to convert the ilgsdata
file for the shortwave database. You won't need the language files anymore.
After installing the software and converting the ILG database you will
probably only
find a single field with red dots on the left side of the spreadsheet. First
I
thought that the software did not run correctly but after a while I
discovered that the data fields will have to be manually expanded like a
harmonica. The are numerous filter functions availble, the whole thing is
highly recommendable.
