The past couple of mornings have been exceptional for tropical band
openings. But while tuning above the tropical band to 8725 at 1115 till
past 1215 utc noted a loop tape playing a tune which could be an interval
signal. Anyone have an idea of what this is. Fades down to just above
noise floor around 1215. Nothing else heard during this time period but
the tune. Bob Montgomery
Don't know if the frequency matches, but if the tune is Beethoven's Ode to
Joy, I believe it is the South Korean coastal station.

Yes, indeed it's Seoul Radio coast station, from the Republic of Korea
(South Korea, that is). Beethoven's Ode to Joy is their interval signal,
used to keep the channel busy, for tuning by ship stations and to announce
coming emissions.
Thus it's an utility radio station of the maritime service. You'll find
