Forwarded message corrected:The following message appeared on this mailing list recently.(sent by me actually). FIJI: The University of the South Pacific, Suva, still has broadcasts of lectures on 9070 and 12140 USB Mondays-Fridays at 2200-0700. They are simulcast on the same frequencies by network stations in Niue, Western Samoa, and Tuvalu. Thus it is impossible to determine, from a considerable distance, which station you would actually hear. Moreover, the Telecom authorities ordered the stations to reduce power from 150 to 50 watts only. The shortwave will be supplemented by satellite at the end of this year or early next year. Address- USP, Extension Services, P.O. Box 1168, Suva, Fiji (Maarten van Delft, DSWCI Shortwave News) Correction: In the original message the phrase "This HF part of the network will also use satellite at the end of the year or early next year" was used instead of "The shortwave will be supplemented by satellite at the end of this year or early next year".The word *Also* seems to have been a stumbling block. Maarten van Delft meant that the USP HF frequencies will not be used anymore and the programmes of the USP will be available on Satellite only. Maarten added in a letter that a part of the USP Network has been on Satellite for more than 10 years and the last four *countries* (Fiji, Niue, Western Samoa & Tuvalu) will join this network soon. The responsible engineer made the following striking remark: ''No more HF, no more headaches". Regards, Piet
