[HCDX]: Pacific Special
Hello everywhere,
this evening I could observe very fine signals from the Pacific area.
Unfortunately there is only a small window for reception from VUT, SLM and
PNG here in central Europe between signing on and fade out at local sunrise.
INDONESIA
3214.8 RRI Manado, December 4, 2100-2106, BI, news, fantastic signal with
S7/9; unfortunately blocked by QRM at 2106. SINPO 44434
3905 RRI Merauke, December 5, 1940-1950, BI, pop songs, S7/9, SINPO 35433
PAPUA NEW GUINEA
3315 Radio Manus (presumed), Lorengau, December 5, 1925-1940, non stop
instrumental music, German march music at around 1935, S7, fade out at
around 1945 and on that reason no chance for ID. SINPO 33222
It's not the first time that I could listen to German songs or music from
PNG stations. I still remember well that some years ago to my great surprise
I could hear the so called "Kufsteinlied" via NBC Port Moresby. At the
beginning of this century PNG was a German colony. I don't hope that they
still have there some after-effects of German colonialism.
4890 NBC Port Moresby, December 5, 1920-1925, English, pop music,
sensational signal with S=9+10. SINPO 45434
SOLOMON ISLANDS
5020 SIBC Honiara, December 5, 1855-1920, English, just a carrier until
1901; then start of transmission with drums and flutes, national anthem at
1903, ID and program preview by female speaker followed by pop songs;
relatively good signal with S7, fade out at around 1930. SINPO 34323
