[HCDX]: LTU-BC-INFO, 16.08.1999
Hello all. Sorry for a little bit outdated info, the delay was
caused by my vacations.
LITHUANIA GOES SATELLITE
On August 1, 1999, three Lithuanian private radio stations went
on satellite. 'M-1', 'M-1 Plius' and 'Pukas' now use Sirius-2
(5 deg. East) to distribute programming in MPEG-2 from their
studios to transmitter sites scattered all over Lithuania. The details:
M-1: 12.72943 GHz horizontal, QPSK, FEC 3/4, 192 kbps
M-1 Plius: 12.72961 GHz horizontal, QPSK, FEC 3/4, 192 kbps
Pukas: 12.72976 GHz horizontal, QPSK, FEC 3/4, 128 kbps
These are the first Lithuanian stations that broadcast their
entire programming via satellite.
NEW FM BROADCASTER WENT ON THE AIR IN JULY
A new nation-wide FM broadcaster, 'Lietus', went on the air on
July 15, 1999. The new program is broadcast daily from 0600
to 2400 CE(S)T, i.e. 0400-2200 UTC, over the network of stations
of the former 'Ultra Vires' which ceased broadcasting in Spring
of this year. The program consists of Lithuanian music and talk
shows.
('Lietus' means 'rain' in Lithuanian, it's also a possible source
for the name of this country according to some theories)
