John Devoldere has an extensive chapter in the new 1999 edition of his 
excellent book "Low-Band DXing" about receiving antennas, especially dealing 
with beverages and the EWE. Also the K9AY is mentioned as a variant of the 
EWE. You should find more details about the book at www.arrl.org

The article "The K9AY Terminated Loop - A Compact, Directional Receiving 
Antenna", by Garry Breed, was published in QST September 1997, pages 43-46.
