Mark Connelly - WA1ION@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I understand that a major DXpedition is underway at Grayland, WA on
the US West Coast. Refer to " http://surf.to/grayland99 ".
This weekend I did some DX as a sort of "parallel effort". I also
expect to DX on Wednesday night (UTC Thursday morning: 1 JUL) from
Rockport, MA.
Here's what I've logged so far on the parallel effort during this
time of year with the shortest nights. Dates and times are UTC.

Netherlands-675, Spain-756, Venezuela-940

Bruce Conti is supposed to be travelling in Florida, Ben Dangerfield
might still be in the Mediterranean, and perhaps Jean Burnell will offer
his insights from his excellent home base in NF. The more perspectives
we get, the better.
Some visiting my Web site have experienced some delays or errors
possibly resulting from the merger of Netcom and Mindspring. If these
problems persist, I'll move everything over to AOL.
Some tests of a full-size K9AY loop have been very encouraging.

Rockport, MA DX: 30 JUN (2352 UTC) to 1 JUL (0224 UTC)

There were some excellent and unexpectedly strong signals from
Denmark-1062, Norway-1314, Netherlands-747, Germany-756,
Switzerland-765, Ireland-567/612, several UK stations, etc. In other
words, Northern European signals were rocking in as if it were December.
Of course, usual stuff from Spain, Canary Islands, Morocco, Algeria,
etc. was also loud.

I hope the Grayland DXers are enjoying similarly good conditions.

The Superadio III I picked up is a dog on FM, but decent on AM

usual.

I have two Sony SRF-42 Walkman Style AM stereo /FM Stereo sets for sale.
Radio Shack sells them as p/n 12-127 for $29.95. These units are new in
box, although the boxes are a bit beat they are still sealed and in fine
shape, and I am asking for a money order for $25 US for each shipped and
insured.
