Hmm. In Cumbre DX, I read that the only shortwave service from Kenia that
is
currently active, is the Norteastern Regional Service on 4885 kHz. This is
from the Langate transmittersite. The other services have used the Koma
Rock
site, which is currently inactive due to broken down transmitters.
Best 73',
Mark Veldhuis.
The Voice of Kenya appears to have reactiveted its shortwave transmitter on
4915 kHz. The station was received here in Taranto, with a fair signal, on
July 4, 1999,
between 18.06 and 18.12. At that time a news bulletin in (presumed) Swahili
was aired. A clear ID as "KBC Nairobi" was given by the speaker at 18.06.
So there is no doubt: the station heard on July 2nd by Karl van Rooy is
really The Voice of Kenya.
