"THE AUSTRALASIAN SHORTWAVE DIGEST"
I am pleased to announce the impending launch of a brand-new printed serial
publication, titled "THE AUSTRALASIAN SHORTWAVE DIGEST".
AUTHOR: Bob Padula, OAM
ISSN: 1442-5645;
LANGUAGE: English;
PUBLISHER AND DISTRIBUTOR: Padula Books (Melbourne, Australia)
FORMAT: 8 pages minimum guaranteed, A4, saddle stitched, professionally
printed, illustrated. It will not be available in soft-copy format. The
First Edition will contain a special propagation article about "WINTER
DAYTIME SHORTWAVE RECEPTION IN SOUTH EASTERN AUSTRALIA!"
FREQUENCY OF PUBLICATION: approximately every four weeks
FIRST EDITION: Available July 25, 1999
CONTENT AND AREA OF IMPACT: News about international and domestic shortwave
radio broadcasting, concentrating on (but not limited to) transmissions
from, or directed to Asia, the Far East, Siberia, the Western Pacific, the
Indian sub-continent, and Australia. The Digest will NOT cover medium-wave,
long-wave, VHF-FM, TV, "pirate", clandestine, harmonics, time signal,
amateur, satellite, or utility transmissions. Frequency coverage will be
2,300-26,100 kHz
SPECIFIC CONTENT: New schedules, new stations, revised schedules, reception
notes, spectrum studies, special articles, frequency surveys, propagation
notes and predictions, book and media reviews, international broadcast
engineering activities, frequency planning information, equipment reviews
and technological developments. Updating information will be included to
support our other popular publications: "Australasian Shortwave Guide", and
"Shortwave Guide to South East Asia"
INFORMATION SOURCES: Content will be drawn from various worldwide sources,
including the Electronic DX Press (a weekly soft-copy free electronic
newsletter from "Padula Books" distributed worldwide to over 200 readers),
frequency planners, broadcast engineering consultants, broadcasters,
monitoring hobbyists, the media, monitoring Clubs, the Internet, expert
authors, volunteer contributors, and professional monitoring organisations
MARKET: The publication will appeal to anyone with a general interest in
shortwave broadcasting. In particular, the information offered will be of
direct application and benefit to individuals or organisations wishing to
keep up to date about shortwave broadcasting from and directed towards the
Asia-Pacific region. It is expected that readership in Australia will be
large
===--> The Digest will provide users with TOP-QUALITY, RELEVANT, ACCURATE,
HARD-COPY AND TIMELY INFORMATION at their fingertips, updated regularly.
There is no need to "rely" on very expensive obsolete annual
"authoritative" references, or to waste money in dialling up multitudes of
maddeningly slow, out-of-date Web sites, and printing out page after page
of irrelevant information!
