Re: [HCDX]: Radio Tanpa

I have an M.A. in Linguistics, but Sonny Ashimori's explanation
sounded as if it had been written by a linguist. - Nice job. Briefly,
"Tanpa" would probably be the better translation of the written
Japanese word to English writing. However, "Tampa" is what it actually
sounds like. The use of the lips on the "p" sound causes the "n" to
naturally turn into an "m". There are examples of this in about every
language. Spanish speakers, for example, might want to compare
"tambien" with "tan bien", an example where centuries of use have
changed the word. This Tanpa/Tampa question comes up every couple
years.
