[HCDX]: DX 183 - Special

Hello everywhere,

DX 183 is the QTH of Wilhelm Herbst, who lives in the very north of Denmark
close to the small town Fjerritslev. Wilhelm has realized there a DXer's
dream with a lot of antennas in all thinkable directions. The antenna wires
are installed 1,30m above the ground with a terminating resistor at the end.
One can say, it's a certain kind of Beverage antenna. The other highlight of
this lovely location is the very low level of electric disturbances, which
enables fine DX-results on medium wave as well as on the tropical bands.

Unfortunately we stayed there four days only from 11th to 15th of february
1999. However we will come soon again, although we have to go by car about
1000 km from southern Germany.

The participants: Thomas Adam, Rudolf Schneeberger and yours truly Michael
Schnitzer;

The antennas used by myself to LA:  90m 230° to Brasil, 80m 260° to Peru,
90m 300° to central America;

Receivers: The usual ones;

Personal highlight: Due to the fact that Thomas suddenly was crying "Peru
auf Mittelwelle" (Peru on medium wave) I felt compelled to check immediately
the frequency 1470 kHz. And indeed: CPN Radio from Lima was running there
with jingles, many IDs and SINPO 44423. For about 10 minutes I was
overwhelmed by the fascinating mw-conditions that night, after that period
however I returned to my favourite area of DXing, the tropical bands. We had
good conditions to Bolivia and Peru. Later on Guatemala came in too. To my
surprise I couldn't hear anything of special interest on 45m. A few
Peruvians came in only here and no trace of Radio Satélite.
