You ever hear of an active antenna????   Yea, 500 feet is a bit long but if
you can afford the coax, here is a way to get some good dx.  The trick to
this is check and see what the input voltage at the antenna location is as
it might drop a bit.  I know someone using 300 feet of cable on one and
works fine.
