Apparently 600 Vancouver has dropped their Cont. Christian format for
AS/Pop. Their slogan now "We play 6 adult standards per hour". I heard
Jack Jones, Jimmy Buffett, etc. I'll check to make sure they haven't
changed call letters, but they still call it "The Bridge".

I have heardthat the TIS at DFW airports was cut back in power. I know
it hasn't been heard in the Pacific NW for a while. At 0814 UTC Aug 2,
I heard a female announcer on 1680 khz. The signal was too weak to hear
much as there in a Thunder Storm East of my location in NW Oregon. Is
anyone else hearing this? Is it DFW airport?

Only getting WCMQ-1700 here but static level is very high. If Des

X-Band Report
1630 HARS MI Detroit area, 0600 8/2 - Three different Michigan DOT
stations heard here, each with same announcer and message
loop, but separate location announcements: "I-75 in
Detroit", "I-94 and Ten Thirty Nine", and "I-696 and
I-94". So at least two new ones for me! No call letters
noted. No sign of normally dominant Lehigh Valley TIS
stations. [JR-NY]
1640 WKSH WI Sussex, 2300 7/7 - Heard with detailed sign-off,
including mailing address. [JR-NY]
1650 KKTR CA Costa Mesa, 0631 - heard with new calls and "All
Traffic Radio" slogan, 800 ads, Southern California
traffic reports, weak. First time heard with these calls.
[JR-NY]
1670 WTDY WI Madison, 0030 7/2 - ID during talk show break, easily
separated from WNML by rotating the loop. [JR-NY]
1690 KAYK CO Aurora, 2250 6/13 - Noted with Disney programs // 1260
Boston, tentative report since verified. [JR-NY]
1690 WMDM MD Lexington Park, 2225 7/3 - Strong on car radio (thought
it was a local image) with Talk Radio Network non-ID.
Must have been their first night on the air. Heard actual
ID several days later. [JR-NY]

Rich Boehme - RPBoehme@xxxxxxx
A couple of weekends ago I had the opportunity to go on a long weekend
vacation to the Finger Lakes are of New York State. We go up every
year for a Wine festival which is held at the Watkins Glen
international racetrack. This time we stayed in the Holiday Inn in
Gang Mills, NY (just west of Corning). I compared my logs from this
trip and last year's trip and saw some major difference. I got fewer
stations form western/central PA, but more from Ohio and New England.
This may be because last years hotel room had a southern exposure
(window) while this year's had a western exposure. Another reason may
be that I used a Grundig YB 400 this time and a Radio Shack DX 375 last
time (and an old one to boot!). This report is more of a bandscan type
informal thing, but it gives a general indication of what I was able to
hear those evenings before my wife shooed me to bed ~11:00 each
evening. Listening times were 8:30 to 11:00 pm. I do have one more
official logging at the end made with my VW Jetta radio one Sunday
Morning!

It appears that I heard Bolivian station Radio Bahai in Caracollo is
operating on it's nominal frequency of 1000kHz, rather than 1010kHz as
listed in the WRTH... to explain...
In March of 1997, I heard a South American station on 1000kHz in a
language I couldn't identify, either Quechua or Aymara, with an id in
Spanish that again I couldn't fathom. I was very eager to find out who
this station was and sent out a request on the Internet to no avail. I
even had the tape checked by an attache at the Peruvian Embassy without
success. There were a few "red hearings" thrown in and it was getting
perplexing as even when the '98 WRTH came out, there were no clues.
After corresponding with Henrik Klemetz in Bogota over another unid,
Henrik asked me to send him the cassette. Today I received a reply from
Henrik saying that he could positively id this station as Radio Bahai,
Caracollo, Bolivia... and after 22 years of DXing South Americans on MW
- this is the first Bolivian I have heard! Henrik was able to use his
excellent Spanish language skills to pull out the id and more.
Thank you very, very much Henrik - muchisimas gracias!
PS Don't ever send tapes or mail to Colombia via Surface/Sea Mail as
there is a good chance it either won't get there, or will be held by a
company that won't pass it on through the regular channels... in the
above instance, the company that received it, wouldn't pass it on
through the postal system to Henrik's P O Box and he had to bus across
the city to where the package was being held!
