really appreciate you e-mail your Loggings and / or Newsletters for
contributing to TFW.  BTW, as usual, August means Vacation here in Italy
and, after work, I'll be at my summer QTH in Anzio, to avoid the Very
Hot Temperature here in Roma (with peaks of 120 degrees Fahrenheit !).
On September I' ll be on real vacation in Northen Italy and in England,
of course, with my Sony ICF 2001 D; to avoid an overload of my e-mail
box during the next two months, I kindly ask to remove TEMPORARILY my
e-mail address from your e-mail list for receiving your Loggings and /
or Newsletters. When I' ll be back from vacation,  I'll drop you a line.
Next TFW & TFW On Line # 67 will be back within the first week of

PIRATE EUROPE - In the past days I received from Radio Blandengue a
coulor QSL card, letter and pennant for my report, first from Italy,

INDONESIA - RRI Medan on 4766kHz reactivated in the middle of July after
short absence. The sign off time is 1500 and Love Ambon is heard before

ITALY - Sicily.  A recent visit to the transmitter site at Caltanissetta
in Sicily, Italy revealed the following info about their shortwave
transmitters. There are 4 shortwave transmitters at this site of which
only 3 are operational. A 25 kW Marconi shortwave transmitter that was
used on 6060 kHz in the past is almost dismantled. A newer 3 kW Marconi
B6140 took over the service on 6060 kHz a few years ago. On 7175 and
9515 kHz, two similar very old 5 kW Marconi transmitters are in use. The
first programme is simulcasted on 6060 and 9515 kHz using the same
antenna through a combiner. The second programme uses another antenna on
7175 kHz. When the 25 kW transmitter broke down, it was intended to
replace it by a 50 kW unit to be transferred from Rome. However, due to
the proximity of the city center and the crowded neighbourhood, this
plan could not be realised. The station broadcasts from 05.00 to 23.00

UNITED KINGDOM - I have comment from people at BBC who says that there
is no confirmation of any cut for the moment. The fact is that the
Foreign  Office gave more funds to the WS for this year's budget and
although this amount covered the adjustment due to inflation, it was not
enough as to  what director Sam Younger pretended. As the the priority
is given now to the development of the internet services and some new
experiences in television,  the BBC is going to negotiate with the
Foreign Office a possible reduction or suspension of services, like
German or Slovenian. But this is still *unconfirmed*.  (Nigro-Uruguay,
