Radio in Esperanto, but at 15.00 the German service from Warsaw signed

seemingly an African station drifting between 4793.2 and 4793.5 with
what sounds  like vernacular talk; African style drums just before the

English. Audible as late as 2338 on Feb. 13, but very weak before local
sunset, then getting stronger but almost impossible to read through

'70s pops (Elton John, Barbra Streisand, Bee Gees), mostly segued but
with occasional brief announcements in Italian by woman. Modulation
level is much higher than when the station was previously active on SW,
but speech audio is muffled. Signal gets badly squeezed after 2230 or

ALBANIA - TWR via Cerrik 100 kW, some changes: 9684.9 in En at 0745-0950
ceased from Feb-01. In Ru daily 1800-1845 on new 7294.9, 33 degr (ex
7315), //v5890. In Ru to Israel, Sats only 1900-1915 on new 7294.9, 130
degr (ex 7315), //v6240.(Panivew, Bulgaria Feb-16 via BCDX / EDXP # 80)

ARMENIA - Checked V. of Armenia, 9965, Feb 24 at 2116 opening English
and yes, they are still imagining English is at 2145-2215! How
embarrassing for them (Glenn Hauser, OK/ GH SW/DX Report 98-08, Feb 26,
1998)

CAMBODIA - No trace of 4907, 6090, and 11940 signals. Seemingly all
three transmitters are off the air. Latter one noted here in EUR still
during Dec and Jan at 1258-315 in Vietnamese. Phnom Phen carried very
limited newscast of two minutes duration only, remaining program
fullfilled by Vietnamese music. The only radio station from Cambodia
noted "Radio of the Provisorial Govt of Cambodia", 1130-1210 on 5407.

CHINA PR - CNR has introduced a new Chinese channel on 5985 //7210 and
is obviously fr the new high powered Urumqui relay. Best 1600 onwards

TopNews/Bueschel-FRG / NASWA LN March 98)

CROATIA - Croatian Radio home service on SW 0600-1830 on new 6180 (ex
0600-1500 and ex 6175), and 1500-1830 v6025 //7185 0600-1530, 7150
1530-1830.(Paniview, Bulgaria Feb-07 in BCDX)

CUBA - (?)  Whilst trying to monitor Murtiwave Feedback on RKI 9650 via
Canada, Sun Feb 15 around 1145, there was heavy interference from a buzz
in a very regular pattern--9 seconds on, 16 seconds off, peaking at
9640, but covering 9620-9655 and also around 9535. In a case like this,
one naturally suspects Cuba, in this case the 9550 transmitter (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 929 / GH SW/DX Report 98-07, Feb 19, 1998)

FRENCH POLYNESIA - Since Feb-21, RFO at Papeete has beeen noted with
greatly improved signals on 15170. Frequency is 15170.0, not drifting,
and signal strength has been excellent during the Australian daytime
period. Signals noted from as early as 1900, and audible to past 1000 
apparently 24-hr operation. Programming is in Tahitian and Fr until
0600. News at the top of the hour in Fr from Paris, satellite fed. From
0600-1000+, programming is mainly a relay of the RFO domestic service
(VHF and MW), carrying France-Inter, from Paris. This is not the same
program as Radio-Monde-1, audible on many SW frequencies in this period.
I suspect that a NEW transmitter has been put on line, as modulation
quality and  level are both excellent, quite unlike the previous
erratic, weak, and drifting signal. No sign of historical frequencies
6135 9750 11810 or 11825! Credit to Chris Hambly, for first alerting me

GHANA  - 4792.9-4793.5v  GBC R. 1  The unID African heard drifting up
and down this range for the past couple of weeks turns out to be a spur
of GBC on 4915. On Feb. 22, noted with talk in English, choral anthem
and s/off at 2400. Interesting that the spur drifts but the fundamental
