It's 9:55 PM CST here on Wednesday evening (0355 UTC), and for the past
15 minutes, I have been listening to someone on 1680 with a loud
signal, tracking George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass" album. No
announcements or IDs.
A new X-bander? Pirate?
Thursday evening, 6 :45 PM CST (0045 UTC), with oldies music ("Cherry
Hill Park", "Nah Nah Nah Nah Hey Hey Hey Goodbye"). Strong signal. No
ID noted as yet.

1620 KRIZ-WA, RENTON hrd this morning at 1130 EST 2/16. Very weak
//1560 with talk pgm of some sort. Per BP-WA they apparently are
operating during the day with flea power. Sounds like 100 watts
or under here on Beverage. (PM-OR)
t1700 NY, JFK Airport. unid man talking u/WCMQ with parking info. Hard
to copy and WCMQ was fairly strong. Could catch bits and pieces
during WCMQ fades at 0550 EST 2/13. Soon lost. Caught "New
York" a couple of times and "International Airport". I am going
to try a taped tent. report to them. Hopefully they can make out
the tape. (PM-OR)
(2/16) I spoke with Chris Bennett the GM of KRIZ/KZIZ in Seattle.
Apparently their very weak signal during the day is 1KW. They will be
operating only with the 1KWer for several more days. Then they will be
the 10 KW day and 1 KW nights. They are very weak here during the day.
They sound more like 100 watts rather than 1KW. All reception reports
should be sent to Chris Bennett-GM of KRIZ-KZIZ, at 2600 South Jackson
Seattle WA 98144.

828 JOBB Osaka, Japan. 1504 UT 12 Feb. Big signal with mx box. Fair
signals also on 774, 747 and 693, though the latter suffered
from 690 splash. Best signals in awhile from these NHK2
stations.
1620 WPHG AL Atmore 0502 UT Feb 11. "16-20 AM stereo WPHG Atmore
Alabama" ID by southern accented man at this time. Fair
strength in local noise, as it had been with various syndicated
programs previous nights, but this was the only ID. On Feb 7 at
0430, it had been trading places w/SS talk, possibly Argentina.
Both now unlikely w/KRIZ on unfortunately.

I've beenin Lahaina, Maui for about a week, with the ICF 7600. NOt much
exotic to report. Seems like 738 is in every night fair to good, ditto
the big JJ blasters (693, 747, et al). I did pick up KIRO a couple
nights ago at 3:00am Seattle time (the effervescent Dave Dolackey, hi).
Actually, that's not a bad catch from West Maui, as I've got the
mountain range right behind me. No sign of KGO, however, which I;'ve
heard before from the other side of the island.
I do keep hearing a faint EE stn of some kind on 810, tho. DEefinitely
not KGO...woman talkiing/music/lots more talking/music Sometimes a man
doing the same thing. The fiorst night I heard them it sounded a bit
accented (DU-style), but lately it's been hard to tell Never strong
enough for more than a couple seconds. One big clue is that I heard
five pips one night. Is there a bit Aussie/NZ there??
Other UNIDS:
351 Beacon (like I could remember any code) ._.. ._.. _.. 972? JJ
w/four pips ...- I could have been confusing this with a JJ Hawaiian
on 970, but I don't know why the Hawaiian would run pipis ala NHK.

1305 SPAIN, RNE5 synchros, FEB 14 2330 - // 1413 with '50s type
rock-blues vocal, pips on the half hour, then woman in SS gave
R. Nacional de Espana ID; good. [Connelly*O-MA]
1314 NORWAY, NRK, Kvitsoy, FEB 14 2248 - pop-rock vocal, then man in
Norwegian, followed by a C&W-style Norwegian female vocal;
excellent. [Connelly*O-MA]
1332 ITALY, Rome et al., FEB 14 2248 - man & woman in II; to good
peak. [Connelly*O-MA]
1341 NORTHERN IRELAND, BBC, Lisnagarvey, FEB 14 2249 - US night-club &
showtune songs, then man in EE; barely over a big jumble of
others. [Connelly*O-MA]
1349 MAURITANIA, R. Mauritanie, Nouakchott, FEB 14 2240 - AA vocal &
strings; hacked up a bit by Irish fiddling on strong CKAD -
1350. [Connelly*O-MA]
1359 SPAIN, Arganda, FEB 14 2250 - SS man & woman; poor to fair
through slop. This got louder later on. [Connelly*O-MA]
1386 RUSSIA-KALININGRAD, V.O. Russia, Bolshakovo, FEB 14 2239 -
US-accented EE religious program; HUGE, better than semi-local
WPLM on 1390 ! [Connelly*O-MA]
1395 NETHERLANDS, Lopik, FEB 14 2238 - Dutch teletalk with man &
woman; good. [Connelly*O-MA]
1413 SPAIN, RNE5 synchros, FEB 14 2252 - // 603 with "Superfreak" by
Rick James.
+ FEB 14 2330 - // 1305 with rock-blues vocal, pips on the half
hour, then woman in SS with R. Nacional de Espana ID; good.
[Connelly*O-MA]
1422 ALGERIA, Algiers, FEB 14 2227 - undoubtedly this with FF talk;
atop Germany at the time. [Connelly*O-MA]
1422 GERMANY, Deutschlandradio, Heusweiler, FEB 14 2311 - woman in GG;
excellent, now way over Algeria. Entertainment- quality signal
with the R8A in 6 kHz bandwidth. [Connelly*O-MA]
1467 FRANCE, TWR, Roumoules, FEB 14 2233 - interspersed music and AA
talk by man; excellent. [Connelly*O-MA]
1485 SPAIN, SER synchros, FEB 14 2312 - fast SER SS news by man; just
over a pig-pile of others. [Connelly*O-MA]
1512 BELGIUM, Wolvertem, FEB 14 2228 - woman with EE news item about
the Chief of Staff at the R. A. F. commenting on Iraq and
Kuwait. Loud signal, easily getting by WNRB. [Connelly*O-MA]
1521 SAUDI ARABIA, BSKSA, Duba, FEB 14 2228 - man with
serious-sounding AA talk with compressed telephone-type audio.
Big signal. SAH present, probably from SER Spain.
[Connelly*O-MA]
1544 ALGERIA - CLANDESTINE, Tindouf, FEB 14 2225 - AA speech or sermon
by man; local-like. There was a very weak 1.1 kHz low- side het
(i.e. from 1542.9) in the background. [Connelly*O-MA]
1548 KUWAIT, VOA, Kuwait City, FEB 14 2315 - US EE talk by man &
woman; slopped. [Connelly*O-MA]
1575 SPAIN, SER synchros, FEB 14 2318 - // 1044 with SS teletalk; atop
romantic music (likely Italy) and bits of a third station that
seemed AA. [Connelly*O-MA]
*** PAN-AMERICAN DX ***
705 ST. VINCENT & THE GRENADINES, Kingstown, FEB 14 0458 - presumably
this with a good strength carrier. Audio, if present, wasn't
strong enough to make it past WOR slop. I don't see this station
being reported that often - it wasn't even on Jay Novello's
recent Caribbean cruise DX log report. [Connelly*H-MA]
1060 CUBA, CMDX, Baracoa, FEB 14 2259 - instrumental version of
"Guantanamera", then woman in SS; loud signal with typical
compressed audio. [Connelly*O-MA]
1505 ANGUILLA, R. Anguilla, The Valley, FEB 14 2314 - Carib-EE news to
good peaks. Adjacent 1502/1503 was a total traffic-jam of hets
and growls. [Connelly*O-MA]
