COSTA RICA - RFPI has resumed 21465-USB; heard Nov 3 at 2100 //
15050-AM, and so strong I had to back off the RF gain; stayed until
abrupt closing in middle of a program around 2315. Hope they keep it on
in the 1800-2400 period at least. In contrast, HCJB on 21455-USB was
barely detectable as usual (Glenn Hauser, OK / SW DX Report 97-20, Nov
4, 1997)

CUBA - On DXers Unlimited Oct 28, Arnie Coro revealed that 13600 will be
the new USB fq to Europe when new sked goes into effect Nov 10,
ex-13725. Getting the whole story out of him at once is never to be
expected; he did not say whether 13715 would remain the AM fq, nor
whether English would continue at 2030-2130. Also, 6180 has already been
added at 0500-0700 in English, beamed to ENAm and Eu, not WNAm as
reported elsewhere, //9820 and 9830-USB (Glenn Hauser, OK/ SW DX Report
97-20, Nov 4, 1997)

ECUADOR - HCJB is often weak and fading out on 9745, the only fq to NAm
around 0100; there's something very wrong with their fq management when
5860 is much better tho beamed to Europe with IS 0112, opening Russian

GREECE - [non]. One of the worst clashes starting W97 is on 9580 at
1200-1350, where Voice of Greece relay via Greenville or Delano has
moved from  9590 due to BBC via WYFR usual move from 11865 to 9590 for
winter, always at 1300-1600; whilst R. Australia at the same time
extended 9580 to 1400 from 1300, although a few weeks ago it was in fact
closing at 1200. RA sometimes overrides VOG  here, but something has to

INDONESIA - Interval signal before local news of RRI Palangkaraya was

IRELAND - [non]. West Coast Radio Ireland is desperately looking for
letters of support from listeners in any part of the world, as a station
delegation is meeting soon with a member of the Irish government. The
delegation wants to have a substantial folder of letters to help in a
bid to get State support for the station. "WCRI, Claremorris, Mayo,
Ireland" will find them by airmail; or "wcri@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" by E-mail.
The NAm broadcast has shifted to 5905 UT Thu at 0100-0200 via Germany
(Finbarr O'Driscoll, Ireland, REVIEW OF INTERNATIONAL BROADCASTING/

IRELAND - [non]. The Oct 23 WCRI broadcast at 0100 on 5910 to Nam
announced that this was the final week for the Af repeat at 1900 on
15625; that service would resume when new funding is found. Seems they
have had very little listener response from Af, even from Irish
missionaries known to be there; but it was a good backup for NAm
listeners (Glenn Hauser, OK/ SW DX Report 97-20, Nov 4, 1997)

NEW ZEALAND - R New Zealand International's new schedule has undergone a
minor change. The frequency of 6105kHz allotted to sports broadcasts
(i.e. with the All Blacks rugby tour to the UK) will be used up to 1500
UTC when it will then move to 6070kHz to avoid QRM. With some of the
rugby games scheduled to begin at 1400z, there will be a frequency
change shortly into the second half. This from Adrian Sainsbury at RNZI.

NEW ZEALAND - RNZI did not carry BBC Newsdesk on Monday Oct 27; when I
checked 9700 at 1125, RNZI was playing music. Then I checked BBC On Air
for November, and saw RNZI relay daily at 1100 is no longer listed, and
NZ has been eliminated from list of relay sites in frequency charts (as
have Korea and Nepal). But on Tue Oct 28 Newsdesk was back on RNZI.
Perhaps they are stopping it from November, or contract was late in

NEW ZEALAND - Contrary to the fqy charts in Nov BBC On Air, an
exhaustive WS fqy sked continues to show NZ as a relay site at 1100-1130
on 9700; Bill Matthews checked with RKI and they also maintain that BBC
relays continue--I see one listed on 6035; and the BBC fqy sked still
shows Nepal too on 576 kHz. These are but a few of the mistakes I am
finding in BBC On Air as I check out program timings (Glenn Hauser, OK;

PIRATE EUROPE - Eurorock was founded in early 1995 by Jeff Anderson.
Jeff was active in the free radio scene of the 1980's with Radio Pogo
104, but after the birth of his child and because of taking over a new
and busy job, he stopped producing programmes at the end of the 1980's.
After a break of some years the idea of Eurorock was born. On Eurorock
you can hear rockmusic from the '60 to the '90's, rather mainstream than
hardrock. At the moment Eurorock use the facilities of Radio Europe and

Radio Denmark on 7570 khz that broadcast on the same frequency of Radio

SWITZERLAND - SRI has expanded English from 30 to 60 minutes, at 1100,
1300 and 1400, and the existing hour at 0400 has been expanded to all
three frequencies, 9905, 9885 and 6135 instead of just 9905; but there

U K O G B A N I - Someone at BBC must have trouble reading the calendar.
I taped the AE stream Wed Oct 29 at 0815-0900 on FM for Concert Hall as
scheduled, but instead they played Way to the West, introducing the soap
opera starting at "the same time next week" [NOT], and Everywoman, both
of which were supposed to be on Tuesday at this time, both in Oct and
Nov schedules. There was no explanation or apology in continuity
announcements. I wonder if Concert Hall had been played by mistake on
Tuesday, so this was in compensation? It seemed as if they were blithely
unaware there were broadcasting the wrong programming (Glenn Hauser, OK,
