* The F.C.C. does NOT list the frequency in their database.
I have tried to suppliment this with information from my
own database,, so look it over "carefully" before you
change anything in yours.
We have put this information in order of frequency rather
than location. Send any suggestions, changes AND
corrections to the above E-Mail address.
CORRECTIONS :: !!!!!!
We listed a call letter change for KWJJ in Portland OR. Pat Roberson has
informed me that they DID indeed switch to KOTK. The FCC database was a week
or so ahead of the station and was listed here BEFORE the actual change was
made. THANKS Pat !!!
KPPT Was listed as TOLEDO, OH last week, it should have read : TOLEDO, OR
A couple of weeks ago, we listed a call swap with WJNO/WJNA. I listened to
1040khz today, and the West Palm Beach station is STILL using the WJNO
calls. I "assume" that the 1230khz in Boynton Beach would still be using
WJNA. CHECK YOUR RECORDS AS I MAY have got these backwards last time around
!!!
That "should" wrap things for another week or so.
ALSO, the complete call letter change list is available at:
members.aol.com/bcblogbook/main.htm

+ OCT 25 2137 - heated discussion or argument in a local language
(choppy sounding, a bit like AA); excellent at S9+20 and better,
sometimes stronger than WABC. Whatever technical problems this
station may have had now seem to be corrected. [Connelly*Y-MA]
765 SWITZERLAND, RSR, Sottens, OCT 21 2247 - classical music was strong
with the loop pointed northeast. [Connelly*rw-MA]
774 SPAIN, RNE1 synchros, OCT 21 2242 - SS talk // other RNE1's; good,
slightly over Egypt. [Connelly*rw-MA]
+ OCT 25 2245 - SS man mentioning R. Nacional Espana; over Egypt w/ a
fast SAH resulting. [Connelly*Y-MA]
783 SYRIA, Tartus, OCT 21 2315 - AA Koranic vocal; totally dominant and
very loud, about the best signal I've ever heard from this.
[Connelly*rw-MA]
819 MOROCCO, Rabat, OCT 25 0515 - // 612 w/ AA chant; fair.
[Connelly*H-MA]
836 AZORES, RDP, Pico da Barossa, OCT 21 2253 - fair w/ operatic romantic
vocal. This station was noted on 837 a few days later: it's not the
first time this has jumped back to its correct 9-kHz- multiple
channel. [Connelly*rw-MA] (+ see 837 below)
837 AZORES, RDP, Pico da Barossa, OCT 25 2144 - here (ex-836) w/ PP talk;
strong, evenly mixing w/ Canaries SS talk. Just because this has
reappeared on 837, don't discount the possibility of it jumping back
to 836 without warning. [Connelly*Y-MA]
837 CANARY ISLANDS // SPAIN, COPE synchros, OCT 25 2144 - SS talk
over/under Azores; loud. [Connelly*Y-MA]

864 FRANCE, Paris, OCT 25 0540 - // 945 w/ FF talk by man, then mellow FF
vocal; poor to fair. [Connelly*H-MA]
873 LEBANON (t), Beirut, OCT 21 2316 - I'm not 100% sure if this is still
active, but someone was running AA music behind dominant SER Spain.
Syria-783 was huge at the time (annihilating Spain/ Portugal), so the
propagation certainly seemed right for this. [Connelly*rw-MA]
873 SPAIN, SER R. Zaragoza, Zaragoza, OCT 21 2316 - SS teletalk; atop AA

[Connelly*Y-MA]
1008 CANARY ISLANDS, Las Palmas, R. Las Palmas / RadioVoz, OCT 25 2243 -
slow SS talk (not // SER); poor, in WINS slop. [Connelly*Y-MA]
1017 GERMANY, Rheinsender, OCT 21 2325 - good signal: folk- rock vocal, GG
talk by man, then the "Chariots of Fire" theme by Vangelis was
played. Spain (fast SS talk) was audible way under. [Connelly*rw-MA]
1044 SPAIN, SER synchros, OCT 21 2237 - dominant & loud w/ usual newstalk
in SS. [Connelly*rw-MA]
+ OCT 25 0544 - woman in SS; starting to fade out. [Connelly*H-MA]
1053 UNITED KINGDOM, Talk Radio synchros, Start Point et al., OCT 21 2328 -
blaring US-style ad for the "200 Non-Stop Party Hits" set of CD's.
Bits of numerous '70s / '80s rock and disco hits were played; good,
atop Spain & others. [Connelly*rw-MA]
1089 UNITED KINGDOM, Talk Radio synchros, OCT 21 2331 - EE talk mentioning
the Rolling Stones. [Connelly*rw-MA]
1098 SLOVAKIA, Nitra, OCT 22 0046 - disco-influenced Muzak (ouch !); good
strength, well over Spain. [Connelly*rw-MA]
1098 SPAIN, RNE5 synchros, OCT 21 2333 - a bit of SS talk fighting its way
through a raucous low-pitched growl. [Connelly*rw-MA]
1107 SPAIN, RNE5 synchros, OCT 25 0547 - SS teletalk; fair. [Connelly*H-MA]
1116 SPAIN, SER synchros, OCT 22 0042 - // 1044 w/ SS teletalk show w/

Spain. [Connelly*rw-MA]
1125 SPAIN, RNE5 synchros, OCT 21 2336 - SS talk over/under Croatia.
[Connelly*rw-MA]
1134 CROATIA, HR, Zadar, OCT 21 2334 - Slavic newstalk / teletalk;
local-like, often better than WBBR ! [Connelly*rw-MA]
1134 SPAIN, COPE synchros, OCT 25 2238 - fast SS talk; totally dominant.
[Connelly*Y-MA]
1179 SPAIN // CANARY ISLANDS, SER synchros, OCT 25 2237 - man & woman w/
fast SS political teletalk; LOUD. [Connelly*Y-MA]
1197 LESOTHO, BBC relay, Lancer's Gap, OCT 25 2200 - "Lilybolero" interval
music, BBC news in EE; to fair peak over others.
+ OCT 25 2236 - up to good peaks w/ BBC discussion program.
[Connelly*Y-MA]
1206 FRANCE, R. Bleue, Bordeaux, OCT 21 2355 - Edith Piaf vocal, brief FF
talk by woman, then "A Whiter Shade of Pale" by Procol Harum;
excellent, blasting in. Something else was way under w/ talk: Israel
perhaps. [Connelly*rw-MA]
+ OCT 25 0550 - // 945 w/ nostalgic female vocal; poor to fair.
[Connelly*H-MA]
1215 SPAIN, COPE synchros, OCT 25 2235 - fast SS talk & teletalk; to fair
peak. [Connelly*Y-MA]
1215 UNITED KINGDOM, Virgin R. synchros, OCT 21 2359 - rock song ended, EE
male DJ said a few words, then news headlines were read by a woman;
fair signal. [Connelly*rw-MA]
1224 SPAIN, COPE synchros, OCT 25 2202 - // 837: man & woman w/ SS
teletalk; poor. [Connelly*Y-MA]
1251 LIBYA, Tripoli, OCT 25 2203 - AA news by man; good w/ just a bit of
local WBUR-1240 slop. [Connelly*Y-MA]
1296 SPAIN, COPE, Valencia, OCT 25 2203 - woman w/ SS teletalk show; loud.
[Connelly*Y-MA]
1314 NORWAY, NRK, Kvitsoy, OCT 22 0039 - Louis Armstrong vocal; absolutely
LOCAL-LIKE (overwhelming the adjacent domestics). [Connelly*rw-MA]
1349 MAURITANIA, R. Mauritanie, Nouakchott, OCT 25 2204 - flute music; fair
through slop. [Connelly*Y-MA]
1386 unID, OCT 25 2206 - a fair amount of RF, but the audio was murky.
Guinea probable per receiving site characteristics, time of day, and
propagation. [Connelly*Y-MA]
1422 ALGERIA, Algiers, OCT 25 2208 - AA vocal & strings; dominant, poor to
fair. [Connelly*Y-MA]
1422 GERMANY, Deutschlandradio, Heusweiler, OCT 21 2222 - piano jazz (//
756); fair. [Connelly*rw-MA]
1458 unID, OCT 25 2227 - male operatic vocal in heavy slop. CKRB-1460 is
less a problem on Cape Cod than it is north of Boston, but 1458 is
still a tough channel to DX. [Connelly*Y-MA]
1467 FRANCE, TWR, Roumoules, OCT 25 2210 - absolutely HUGE (S9+30 and
better) w/ choral hymn, then US EE preacher. [Connelly*Y-MA]
1475.1 BENIN, ORTB, Cotonou, OCT 25 2212 - fast drumming & vocal; fair but
fadey. [Connelly*Y-MA]
1485 SPAIN, SER synchros, OCT 22 0036 - SS teletalk w/ a musical interlude;
messy. [Connelly*rw-MA]
1503 unID, OCT 21 0035 - open carrier w/ something else way under. Iran
possible, based on propagation. [Connelly*rw-MA]
1521 SAUDI ARABIA, BSKSA, Duba, OCT 25 0308 - male Koranic AA vocal; good
to excellent. Fading was fast and "ripply", like polar flutter, but
the signal stayed generally strong. [Connelly*H-MA]
+ OCT 25 2215 - local-like (way over S9) w/ high- energy AA strings and
drums, then male vocal. [Connelly*Y-MA]
1544 ALGERIA - CLANDESTINE, Tindouf, OCT 25 2222 - fast AA talk by man at
light audio level on a massive S9+25 carrier. [Connelly*Y-MA]
1548 KUWAIT, VOA, Kuwait City, OCT 22 0010 - "VOA Business Report" talking
about the day's 139 point advance in the Dow- Jones average; HUGE
signal, amazing for the distance. A British station was way under w/
a woman doing a teletalk or interview show. [Connelly*rw-MA]
1559 unID (Middle East ?), OCT 22 0004 - bits of AA talk & a big het
against the residue of phase-nulled WQEW-1560. This station has been
noted in Spain and it might be the "Iraqi Army Radio" anti-Saddam
Hussein clandestine that shows up on various split frequencies above
1500 kHz. [Connelly*rw-MA]
1566 INDIA, All India R., Nagpur-Buttibori, OCT 22 0022 - Indian-accented
EE talk by a woman mentioned agriculture and trade topics, then the
words "external service"; poor to fair at best. I had to chase a
jumpy phase null of WQEW's slop to pull this through. By 0030, the
channel became jumbled w/ Iran & others getting into the mix.
Getting India made sitting in the car on a cold night at the Rowley
salt-marsh well worth the effort. [Connelly*rw-MA]
1575 SPAIN, SER synchros, OCT 25 2220 - fast SER SS newstalk; fair.
[Connelly*Y-MA]
1619.5 NETHERLANDS, Scheveningen, PCH, OCT 21 0012 - this is still on the
air (it's supposed to be going silent soon). Usual repeated cycle of
"PCH" Morse code ID and 8 data bursts. Very strong. [Connelly*rw-MA]

this was running the R. Reloj program at this time. [Connelly*H-MA]
670 CUBA, R. Rebelde, CMQ, Arroyo Arenas, OCT 25 0943 - Cuban music //
710; good. [Connelly*H-MA]
700 COLOMBIA, HJCX, Cali, OCT 25 0946 - "R. Net" ID, Bogota mention;
dominant, way over WLW. [Connelly*H-MA]
710 CUBA, R. Rebelde synchros, OCT 25 0943 - // 670 w/ upbeat Cuban vocal

Rigs: Icom R70 & Collins R-389
Antennas: Various longwires 50m to 200m and MW Loop at home...

880 2302 23/10 WCBS NY. CBS News and ads, poor-fair. Good at 23h13. [The
23rd was very unusual in that the NAm stations were heard much earlier
than normal and at quite surprising signal strengths at times. One of
the best openings this year, which has been terrible overall!]

Some of the folks in this newsgroup are aware that for some time I've been
offering WHAMSRCH.EXE via my page. This free program runs under DOS or
Windows and permits user to search WHAMLOG files on multiple criteria like
call, state, power, schedule, etc. The unregistered version had no print
capablity.
Recently I added a registration form to my page and DXers can request a
print-capable version of WHAMSRCH, also free. My only requirements is that
you supply me with your name, e-mail address and country. I want to know who
is using this more useful version of the program.
To get a copy, click on the 'FREE' link on the WHAMLOG page, fill in the
form and submit it. When I receive your request from my ISP, I will e-mail a
file attachment which contains the program and documentation.--
