[HCDX]: NEWS: S Korea: KBS on NF? 6255

SOUTH KOREA

South Korea's KBS Liberty Program (//6135) was heard on NF? 6255 kHz
1700-2000 on Oct. 18. Good, clear signal and sudio. KBS used this frequency
in the late 80s, but I never noticed it here in recent years despite my
daily habit to monitor Pyongyang BS on the adjacent 6250.

The Liberty Program is South Korea's official Korean-language broadcast for
Koreans in North Korea and Japan.

I cannot eliminate the possibility that this is the product of KBS on 6015
and 6135 (6135-6015=120; 6135+120=6255), but the audio I heard on 6255 on
Oct. 18 was purely //6135, and the other program on 6015 was not mixed.
Also, no such ghost was heard on the other side (6015-120=5895), nor was
this (6255) here the next day when 6015 and 6135 were both very strong.

I also considered the possibility that the jammer on 6250, which I have
reported here in the past few weeks, was actually from the North against
this KBS on 6255. However, the same jammer, which was on yesterday, stopped
as soon as Pyongyang BS on 6250 signed off at 1900, and the KBS was very
clear after that. So it must be from South Korea against Pyongyang on 6250.

24 hours later, as I write this now at 1750 on Oct. 19, there is no KBS on
6255, only Pyongyang BS on 6250 as usual. Mystery deepens. I will get back
to you with more if further monitoring reveals anything.
