[HCDX]: NEWS: FEN Tokyo renamed "AFN"

JAPAN

Sorry, this is old news, but sometime last month the Far East Network
(FEN), a local AFRTS station serving U.S. forces in mainland Japan and
Okinawa since 1945, changed its 52-year-old name to "American Forces
Network" (AFN). Current AM and FM frequencies are as follows (all 24h):

	Tokyo 810 khz 50 kW
	Misawa 1575 kHz 0.3 kW
	Iwakuni 1575 kHz 1 kW
	Sasebo 1575 kHz 0.3 kW
	Okinawa 648 kHz 10 kW, 89.9 MHz FM 10 kW

Sadly, FEN quit shortwave in 1987, following the same decision by AFRTS.

Does anyone know when they changed the name? I have asked AFN at
<eagle810@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>, so I will be back if I get a reply.
