Howdy all & welcome to PiPa#200! (This is just the cover sheet, PiPa #200
should either be an attached file to this or should follow right after my
own greetings & name). If you only get the cover letter & not PiPa#200, drop
me a line...it's happened a few X....
Wow, PiPa #200! Issue #1 was a tentative project that I put out just to see
if there was enough interest in pirate radio that 25 or so people to
contribute to a newsletter. These days, PiPa is received by somewhere near
500 people, and fortunately, I have TONS of help from Chris Lobdell & Niel
Wolfish of Free Radio Weekly or I wouldn't be able to manage! Thanks to you
guys, to everyone to contributes & to everyone who broadcasts!
If anyone's interested, the stations logged in issue #1 were: Radio
USA, WBRI, WENJ, WJDI, WKND, WKZP, & WRPS on the now odd frequencies of
1620, 7415, 7440, and 7490.
Issue #100 contained logs of CSIC, Pan Global Wireless, Voice of
Laryngitis, WEED, WJAM, WJLR, WLIS, & WQSL. Contributors in this issue
included John Arthur, John Barnard, Phil Burbules, Guy Connor, Scott Gentry,
Ed Kusalik, Chris Lobdell, Alan Masyga, Ed Rausch, Eric Suter, George
Zeller, & me. Activity was still centered around 7415 kHz.
News
Great to hear Radio Metallica Worldwide back on the air--now from a ship in
the Atlantic! Signals have remained excellent, although the transmitter is
now drifting a bit & some AC generator hun is appearing in the audio...
All of the recent pro-drug stations turned up for #200: Radio Free
Euphoria, KNBS, Microdot Radio, Voice of the Runaway Maharishi on Sunday,
9/14. Was this some sort of drug commemoration or holiday?
Radio USA returned for a few widely heard 14th anniversary shows.
Some weird transmitter problems going on there...

There's been a lot of talk about an event where 24 continuous hours
of pirate radio will be on the air. The initial thoughts were for shortwave
in North America, but folks've been talking about AM/FM simulcasting and

THE GOOD SHIP METALLICA? George Zeller tells us that he has it from reliable sources that Dr. Tornado has moved his 10 kw transmitter onto a boat and is actually transmitting from off the East Coast of the USA! Dr T claims you can hear the sine wave distortion in the audio caused by the generators. George also thinks this is what causes the signal to drift. Let's hope we can confirm this!
