Howdy all & welcome to PiPa#198! (This is just the cover sheet, PiPa #198
should either be an attached file to this or should follow right after my
own greetings & name). If you only get the cover letter & not PiPa#198, drop
me a line...it's happened a few X....

News
Whew, I've been backlogged with everything after vacationing. I'm hoping to
have the RFI! page updated soon (it's been a few days since I last updated)
& all of the maildropping, etc., should be updated by tomorrow (sat.)
        One piece of news is that Radio Metallica Worldwide has been
noticeably silent. Not sure what's going on there, but hopefully Dr. T will
make a return for PiPa#199...
        Despite not having RMWW on right now, we still had worldwide logs
from the North Americans. WREC was heard in Hungary, of all places! (the 1st
report I've ever seen from Hungary!). It was heard at SIO:242 & the report
was quite detailed. The lesson here is, N.American stations--especially
those with SSB rigs--can be heard worldwide. The moral of this story is that
it doesn't matter if you live in Europe or some other continent, it's worth
listening for the N.American pirates.
        During one evening in this PiPa, a station jammed another for about
an hour because he thought that the other station intentionally jammed him.
Remember that 6955 is very busy and shortwave signals have skip zones. It is
very common for signals from two locations to be inaudible to each other,
yet both are audible at a third location. So, present-day broadcasting on
6955 kHz in North America requires some patience. Expect some interference.
And if you feel slighted by another op, contact the station (calmly!) by
mail, e-mail, or over the air and politely tell them that they wiped your
signal. Most ops will be apologetic. 
        A few Euros are making it West, but still not too much. With autumn
approaching, hopefully, we can pull out some more morning or nighttime tests
from Europe. Feel free to send me test notices for upcoming PiPas or for the
News section of RFI!
        Finally, there's been a lot of talk about an event where 24
continuous hours of pirate radio will be on the air. The initial thoughts
were for shortwave in North America, but folks've been talking about AM/FM
simulcasting and worldwide operations, as well. For more info, check out the
FRN Grapevine or drop me a line. I'll try to have something on RFI! about it
in the coming days.
        Nope, that's not all. I almost forgot! SW Liberation II seems to
have finally ended. I'll have to go back through the calendar, but I believe
that the mark was about 90 straight days or shortwave pirate broadcasting in
North America! Great job, guys!

He-Man Radio tell us that he?ll be on the air on August 23 with a new program.  Time is unknown, but frequency will likely be 6955 in (of course) the manliest of all modes, upper side band. 

A MEDIUM WAVE PIRATE YOU MIGHT WANT TO TRY FOR:

Good to hear Weekend Music Radio on 76m last night with proper programming instead of poxy QSO stations who have f***ed up this great band. Ozone Radio are now testing on 5830 and gave a good signal here in London. UK Radio were received with a fair to good signal (for once) here in the south. RFL failed to make it onto 3945 last night due to technical trouble.

I spent over two hours in the FRN chat room last night and some of the US operators are planning a 24 hour network for some time in the furture. If anyone is interesting in getting involved let me know and I'll pass it on. I've cracked a deal with two stations to have RFL relayed over there on SW and a local FM pirate station.

NEWS:
The Radio London night out at Frinton
I've had a phone call from the Lads who went up to the Radio London disco
last night in Frinton (Tony Randall, Eric May, RF Burnes and Dave Winsor)
They told me a great night was had by all. Ex-pirates attending were Mark
Roman, 
Duncan Johnson (or Drunken Johnson !) Tommy Vance, Dave Cash plus many more. 
The call was made on a mobile phone and the signal started to break up, but
Dave  Winsor told me that he got up at the end to make a speech and said that it was great to have Radio London back even if it was for only 28 days, and the only real good thing  to come out of it was that while Radio London had returned Harold Wilson was dead in his box !! (Nice one Dave) I'll find out more when I see them later.

Tony Randall managed to get more voice overs from some of the old names
endorsing RFL including Tommy Vance and Dave Cash, on top of the voice overs we already have from M.Roman, K.Sukes, D.Johnson and Roger "Twiggy" Day. Listen out on the air on 5805 on August 31st as the ex-pirates give their backing to Radio Free London. This will be our last SW broadcast for two months while we build up our AM service to London and wait for the conditions to improve, even though they were very good today.

Well I've since found out more about this, and it looks like Ray is going to
