Hello everybody,

Monday seems to be my day for DXing, so here you go: some tips from your faithful reporter in Taiwan-land. For you China freaks check the Chinese ID for the World of Chinese Language program and the presumed new CNR 1 frequency.

My catch of the week was WEWN from Alabama. For people who don't understand: any signal from the Americas is DX because, a) it is half a world away, b) I use a simple portable with overload problems, hets and garagedoor wide filter. The gray-path was right between the eastern US and Taiwan, so that might have helped. But basically I find that frequency/time combinations for US stations do not favor reception here in Asia. Keeps the fun in DXing though.

8566 CNR Minority program 1015-1017 Male presenter talking and talking in Korean, but accent different than the N/S-Korean accent. //9920, 9775. good (Boogert, March 31)

15880 CNR World of Chinese Language 0920-0930* Recorded speech in Chinese; music. Putting spurs on 15953/15807 kHz. Signed off at 0930. //11000. ID as "Hua-yu Shi-jie." Broadcasts in languages other than Mandarin too. 55555 (Boogert, March 31)

17550 CNR 1 0850-0902 Prgr abt highways. Commercials for a private school, liquor, etc. Pips and ID. //17605, 15550, 15480, 15390, 12120, 11800, 9340, 9290, 7504, 7290. 44334 (Boogert, March 31) I HAVEN'T SEEN THIS FREQUENCY MENTIONED BEFORE, SO I PRESUME A NEW ADDITION.

VIETNAM

12035 Voice of Vietnam Nat. Sve. 2 0954-1000 Woman talking. IDed by //4960 which came in weaker. 33443 (Boogert, March 31)

USA

7425 WEWN 1020-1040 Rlg music. Some talk and ID at 1028 into more spiritual talk between man and woman. Rather noisy. 24232 (Boogert, March 31)
