Welcome to another Edition of the KIWI RADIO WEEKLY.

We are looking to produce a small book on FREE Radio stations that are
operating or have operated in the Southern Hemisphere, Stations such as
Radio G'Day, CBN, KIWI, Pirana, Conchiguaz, and others.
IF you have ANY information on ANY FREE radio stations that originate
from the Southern Hemisphere PLEASE contact us.- Thanks.

As advised to us on the 16th Radio Free London SW had to pull the
plug on their 3945 service that morning due to technical problems ,due
to low modulation - (hopefully they will have sorted it out by now),
leaving 6400 khz still on air.
Well it goes to show that even one of the best do have troubles now and
then with transmitters trying to say that they have had enough, and want
a rest.
No doubt AW of RFLSW will keep us posted.

For those that were lucky enough to listen to ZLXA - Levin, New Zealand,
to Paul Ormandy's DX Programme "KIWI DX", They would have enjoyed the
programme immensly, as we did - WELL DONE PAUL.
Pauls next DX programme is on the 18th of March at 07.30 utc
on ZLXA 1602 khz AM / 3935 khz SW - so DON'T miss it.

Radio Marabu will be on air again with a long time 24 hours
transmissions at March.
>From Friday the 28th of February starting at 20.00 hours UTC until
Saturday the 1st of March at 20.00 hours UTC.
Radio Marabu will be on air on 6275 khz with the following programme
line-up:
1st Hour: "Gittare X Roadshow" in German with DJ Marcel Fischer.
2nd Hour:"Radio Blast Off" in German with Christian Ohde presenting
this NEW crossover programme. It's the
"Heavy-Alternative-
Groove-Club"
3rd Hour:"Matje FM". Gabber-Hardcore Techno. German
4th Hour:"Dark Beat Radio show" with DJ Gunter Radermacher.
German.
The four hour programmes are repeated on four hour time slots.

Radio Miami International - WRMI in Florida, USA have advised of NEW
programmes on WRMI.
Jeoff White has informed us that the following programmes have recently
begun or are scheduled to begin soon on WRMI:
"News You can use" - national and international news and commentry.
This is a live programme, and listener phone calls are invited.
"Prophecy and the New World Order" a discussion of Biblical Prophecy
hosted by John Sassor. Mon - Fri 1900-20.00 UTC.
"Freedom Now" about tax issues with Irwin Schiff Tue-Sat 00.00-01.00
UTC. Another live show with phonecalls being invited.
"Radio Sparks" a free radio programme from Switzerland on Saturday
(today) Feb 22nd at 1900-2000 UTC.
Radio Sparks will be heard on the Fourth Saturday of every second month
( April 26, June 28 ...), at 2:00-3:00 pm EST ( Currently UTC -5, but
will go to UTC -4 during Northern Hemisphere Summertime from April to
October ).
Special Colour QSL Cards will be issued by Radio Sparks.
"Radio La Colifata" a special programme produced by the residents of a
neuropsychiatric hospital in Buenos Aires, Argentina - The First time
they have broadcast on Shortwave. This special programme will be
broadcast at 0230-0300 UTC Friday April 18th 1997.

All WRMI Programmes are on 9955 khz. <<
KIWI Radio was due to be aired Feb 22nd at 10.00 utc, but we are not
sure if the programme made it in time. If it did Great.
If it did not, we have asked WRMI to slot it in ( if they can), before
the end of February ( hopefully they will get it before then).- Our
thanks to WRMI for their patience.
We are due to résumé programming via IRRS-SW Italy in March on 3985 khz
on March 30th at 20.00 hours UTC.
The March programme via WRMI is on March 29th at 10.00 hours UTC on 9955
khz.

KIWI Radio will be having a 30 minute broadcast today February 23rd
at 08.00 UTC on 7475 khz USB. It will contain LOCAL programming only in
a test format.
On March 2nd KIWI Radio will be on air from 07.15 utc on 7475 khz USB
with the following two relays:

I was thinking the other day about New Zealand AM / FM Pirate stations,
and there has been a few - not so recent.
A couple of old AM Pirate stations that are no longer - by many years,
that I remember hearing about were Radio Sunshine AM in Otago in the
1970's, and Radio Makara AM from the Wellington area, also from the
1970's.
FM piracy has been around also particulary in Auckland.
Palmerston North had Radio Dork FM in the mid 1980's.
Wellington had Pirate FM - before it became legal.
Even in 1980 Government buildings had it's own low-powered "unlicensed"
FM transmitter called "Radio Beehive" operated by a member of Parliament
called Aussie Malcolm. ( he was never prosecuted, as the then Minister
of Broadcasting Hugh Templeton said that it "did not" break the Law ) -
it must have been more than a standard wireless microphone operation, as
it was heard in downtown Wellington at the time.
ONE RULE FOR ONE - ANOTHER FOR SOMEONE ELSE !!
I will be looking more closly at the New Zealand Pirates on AM and FM
from the years gone by, over the next few months.
I am not aware of any active ones, but I bet they are there, especially
Low-powered stations in Auckland or Wellington.
