Transportation: Ocala is served by both AMTRAK and Bus Lines. Drop off
point is a couple of miles from the hotel, so call us to arrange for pick
up!

Air Lines: Best bet here is Gainesville. We are arranging for
transportation (and perhaps a couple of "quick" station tours in
Gainesville) on a FIRST COME basis. Call me for details. If you come
through Orlando, THERE IS A "Shuttle" service available to Ocala. Price is
about $28 bucks per person. Call 1-800-448-2808 or talk to your travel
agent. (When making reservations, try to AVOID Atlanta for obvious reasons
! hi!

OTHER ACTIVITIES: We are putting together a "packet" on outside activities,
please let me know if you want a packet mailed to you. If you send me a
couple of stamps, that would be appreciated.

SCHEDULE (Tentative)

NOW The "FUN" part: Friday Morning and afternoon...Pick up attendees in
Gainesville, and tour WYGC/WLUS-AM.

Late Friday afternoon: Registration and greeting time.

Friday night : General get together at hotel meeting room for discussions
and equipment demonstrations. Planning on having a couple of receivers as
well as a RBDS demonstration. (Details are still being planned.)

Saturday : Station Tours

Morning: WOCA-AM and WMOP AM. Both are with-in walking distance of the
hotel (if you don't mind a long walk) WMOP also has one of the "largest,
privately owned antique Radio & TV museums" in the country. Plan on extra
time at WMOP.

Saturday afternoon: Tour of WHIJ-FM. The local "religious" station is also
with in walking distance. Then we will go to WTRS/WMFQ. (2 FMs as one
operation) WTRS is one of two "country" stations in the market. WMFQ is a
"Light AC" station running automated off of CD's and Hard Drives. Early
evening will bring "Happy Hour" at the Hotel and more meeting time.
Saturday Night will be for the "Annual" business meeting, banquet, and
auction. (Plan on a L O N G evening)

Sunday Morning: For those who wish to go, I will be taking a group to the
WTRS/WMFQ Transmitting plants for a more "technical" tour.

Sunday Afternoon: It's BARBECUE time at the Freshwater's. About a mile
from the hotel in the historic district, our home is located about a block
from a vacant lot where we can have the annual "softball" game.

Sunday evening: It's "kick back" time for those who are staying. We may
want to stay at my place. (There will be plenty of "Liquid Re-FRESH-ments."

Monday : For those who want to stay an extra day, I have arranged a tour of
the "Peoples Radio Network" in White Springs, FL. Its about a 90 minute
drive and we can have lunch at the "Historic" Telford Hotel. NOTE: To
quote Ross Perot, "Volunteers" are needed. If you will be driving, we need
folks with transportation to help move people around. If you "NEED"
transportation, GET IN TOUCH with me ASAP so I can start scheduling. The
above schedule is TENTATIVE depending on the number attending. The more
that come, the better organized we need to be. If you can HELP in ANY way,
P L E A S E let us know.

Auction Items: Auction items may be sent to my regular mailing address:
414 S.E. 3rd. St, Ocala, Fl 34471. Call your "local" stations and ask for
items. You may be surprised at the good response your will get !! Help me
plan ahead by filling out the form below and dropping it in the mail or form
it your-self and E-mail it to Lfreshwate@xxxxxxxx

 HOT STUFF

Don Moore - MOORE@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Latin American Radio Website: My Patepluma International Radio Homepage is
up for browsing. The site includes around a megabyte of articles, mostly
(but not exclusively) about Latin American radio. While the focus in on SW,
much of the material is background information just as useful to MW DXing.
Some MW specific items include my MW logs from my trip to Venezuela in 1/95
and a historical article on the use of radio in the 1924 US presidential
campaign. Just added to the site are about 40 graphics, mostly jpeg photos
of Latin American radio stations, including several MW only stations. The
photos average around 30-35k in size. I plan to eventually have around 200
graphics on the site, as time allows me to scan them in. Contributions to
the site, in the form of articles or interesting graphics pertaining to
Latin American radio are welcome! The URL is

Browne Donald - absee@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

For those 312 domestic listeners and 36 foreign listeners who were able to
receive the special test broadcast of KILO-TANGO-ROMEO-KILO/KTRK/K-Truck;
ALPHA-ROMEO-MIKE-YANKEE/ARMY; and ALPHA-BRAVO-SIERRA/ABS, during 5-8
February 1996, on 1670 kHz, the Verification Certificates are being mailed
to you during the last week of May 1996.

The Verification Certificates are printed on green twenty-weight stock, with
a filigreed border, and a subdued ABS Crest in the center of the 8 1/2-inch
by 11-inch document. The document gives a technical description of the
facilities and identifies all major components of equipment within the
studio, transmitter, and antenna trucks.

There are ten variations of the Verification Certificate, and each listener
who submitted a QSL request will receive the version appropriate to the type
and extent of the information received by ABS.

The ten variations are as follows:
     (1). Plain Green (No endorsements)
(2). Special Endorsement; for listeners who reported
reception in their cars or pickup trucks.
(3). Low-power Endorsement; for listeners who reported
reception during (generally unannounced) 1000-watt operation,
such as the Fred Flintstone Show, Al Peterson Show, and parts
     of the Tom Wenz Show.
(4). Early-bird Endorsement; for listeners who read the
advisory notice in Radio World or DX News, and reported
reception prior to 5 February 1996, when no call letters were
     used.
(5). Sign-on Endorsement; for listeners who heard the
sign-on and identified the first song played.
(6). Sign-off Endorsement; for listeners who heard the
sign-off and identified the last song played.
(7). Two-Call Endorsement; for listeners who reported
two of three call letters used.
(8). All-Call Endorsement; for listeners who reported
     three call letters used.
(9). Volunteer Endorsement; for listeners who were
also volunteer announcers at the station.
(10). Multiple Endorsements; any combination of #2
through #9 above that are applicable to the listening report.

My sincere thanks for all QSL reports that were submitted.

Donald S. Browne
Program Director
KTRK
