walking distance of the hotel. A map is available from the convention
committee.
Transportation: Ocala is served by both AMTRAK and Bus Lines. Drop off
point is a couple of miles from the hotel, so call us to arrange for pick
up!
Air Lines: Best bet here is Gainesville. We are arranging for
transportation (and perhaps a couple of "quick" station tours in
Gainesville) on a FIRST COME basis. Call me for details. If you come
through Orlando, THERE IS A "Shuttle" service available to Ocala. Price is
about $28 bucks per person. Call 1-800-448-2808 or talk to your travel

! hi!
OTHER ACTIVITIES: We are putting together a "packet" on outside activities,
please let me know if you want a packet mailed to you. If you send me a

SCHEDULE (Tentative)
NOW The "FUN" part: Friday Morning and afternoon...Pick up attendees in
Gainesville, and tour WYGC/WLUS-AM.
Late Friday afternoon: Registration and greeting time.
Friday night : General get together at hotel meeting room for discussions
and equipment demonstrations. Planning on having a couple of receivers as
well as a RBDS demonstration. (Details are still being planned.)
Saturday : Station Tours
Morning: WOCA-AM and WMOP AM. Both are with-in walking distance of the
hotel (if you don't mind a long walk) WMOP also has one of the "largest,
privately owned antique Radio & TV museums" in the country. Plan on extra
time at WMOP.
Saturday afternoon: Tour of WHIJ-FM. The local "religious" station is also
with in walking distance. Then we will go to WTRS/WMFQ. (2 FMs as one
operation) WTRS is one of two "country" stations in the market. WMFQ is a
"Light AC" station running automated off of CD's and Hard Drives. Early
evening will bring "Happy Hour" at the Hotel and more meeting time.
Saturday Night will be for the "Annual" business meeting, banquet, and
auction. (Plan on a L O N G evening)
Sunday Morning: For those who wish to go, I will be taking a group to the
WTRS/WMFQ Transmitting plants for a more "technical" tour.
Sunday Afternoon: It's BARBECUE time at the Freshwater's. About a mile
from the hotel in the historic district, our home is located about a block
from a vacant lot where we can have the annual "softball" game.
Sunday evening: It's "kick back" time for those who are staying. We may
want to stay at my place. (There will be plenty of "Liquid Re-FRESH-ments."
Monday : For those who want to stay an extra day, I have arranged a tour of
the "Peoples Radio Network" in White Springs, FL. Its about a 90 minute
drive and we can have lunch at the "Historic" Telford Hotel. NOTE: To
quote Ross Perot, "Volunteers" are needed. If you will be driving, we need
folks with transportation to help move people around. If you "NEED"
transportation, GET IN TOUCH with me ASAP so I can start scheduling. The
above schedule is TENTATIVE depending on the number attending. The more
that come, the better organized we need to be. If you can HELP in ANY way,
P L E A S E let us know.
Auction Items: Auction items may be sent to my regular mailing address:
414 S.E. 3rd. St, Ocala, Fl 34471. Call your "local" stations and ask for
items. You may be surprised at the good response your will get !! Help me
plan ahead by filling out the form below and dropping it in the mail or form
it your-self and E-mail it to Lfreshwate@xxxxxxxx

684 SPAIN, RNE1, Sevilla, MAY 19 0121 - SS talk; fair o/ SAH from unID
station behind. [Connelly*Y-MA]
855 SPAIN, RNE1 synchros, MAY 19 0132 - SS newstalk by man & woman; fair
to good o/ SAH. [Connelly*Y-MA]
891 ALGERIA, Algiers, MAY 19 0142 - male AA vocal; fair. [Connelly*Y-MA]
999 SPAIN, COPE, Madrid, MAY 19 0209 - bits of SS vocal; poor.
[Connelly*Y-MA]
1521 SAUDI ARABIA, Duba, MAY 19 0305 - strong het, fair audio w/ Koranic AA
male vocal just after sign-on. Null of WWKB was hard to hold: band
conditions were short-skip dominated. [Connelly*Y-MA]
PAN-AMERICAN DX
555 ST. KITTS & NEVIS, ZIZ, Basseterre, MAY 19 0430 - fair w/ Carib-EE
man and soca/reggae music. [Connelly*Y-MA]
670 CUBA, R. Rebelde, CMQ, Arroyo Arenas, MAY 19 0238 - // 710 w/ SS
sporting event; way o/ WMAQ / probable YVLL. [Connelly*Y-MA]
690 ANGUILLA, Caribbean Beacon, St. John's, MAY 19 0442 - preacher in EE;
loud, sometimes atop CBF. Cuban growl was way behind both this &
CBF. [Connelly*Y-MA]
700 JAMAICA, JBC Radio 1, Montego Bay, MAY 19 0425 - reggae music &
Carib-EE talk; to good peak o/ remnants of nulled WLW.
[Connelly*Y-MA]
710 CUBA, R. Rebelde, La Julia et al., MAY 19 0238 - // 670 w/ SS sporting
event; u/ WOR. [Connelly*Y-MA]
740 CUBA, R. Progreso synchros, MAY 19 0228 - festive reggae-like
instrumental, R. Progreso ID; good o/ CBL/CHCM/others.
[Connelly*Y-MA]
760 COLOMBIA, RCN, HJAJ, Barranquilla, MAY 19 0415 - RCN news // 770; o/
WJR / other SS LA's / bad growl (Cuba?). [Connelly*Y-MA]
770 COLOMBIA, RCN, HJJX, Bogota / probable JAMAICA, MAY 19 0412 - RCN SS
news o/ soul-reggae music station (likely the Jamaican); WABC nulled.
[Connelly*Y-MA]
780 BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS, ZBVI, Roadtown, Tortola, MAY 19 0125 - soca
music and Carib-EE talk, mixing w/ CFDR "Kicks Country". Other stuff
(Venezuela and WBBM, presumably) was way off in the background.
[Connelly*Y-MA]
830 ST. KITTS & NEVIS, TBN, Basseterre, MAY 19 0130 - // 7510 w/ US EE
religious program & mentions of the mid-year fund-raising appeal;
good, o/u WCRN. [Connelly*Y-MA]
860 CUBA, R. Reloj, CMBL, Arroyo Arenas, MAY 19 0540 - Reloj program was
the top Latin American w/ CJBC nulled. I was looking for more
interesting targets, but no such luck tonight. [Connelly*Y-MA]
880 VENEZUELA (t), YVYM, Puerto Ordaz, MAY 19 0217 - SS ID behind WCBS
sounded like "Mundial" so probably this one. This is generally the
most common 880 Latin American heard in MA. [Connelly*Y-MA]
1000 COLOMBIA, RCN, HJAQ, Cartagena, MAY 19 0208 - RCN Colombian news by
woman in SS w/ frequent Bogota mentions; atop CKBW/WMVP-1000 and het
from Spain-999. [Connelly*Y-MA]
1020 TURKS AND CAICOS, Caribbean Christian Radio, MAY 19 0146 - back here
(ex-1024/1025) w/ EE preaching o/u YVRS w/ almost no KDKA until quite
a long while later. [Connelly*Y-MA]
1020 VENEZUELA, YVRS, La Asuncion, MAY 19 0146 - initially dominant w/
festive music and SS talk w/ mentions of Margarita, Venezolano, and
Oriente. Turks & Caicos then started mixing in and the two stations
took turns atop the channel with no trace of KDKA. [Connelly*Y-MA]
1040 BRAZIL, R. Capital, ZYK537, Sao Paulo, MAY 19 0151 - over the pack for
about 30 seconds w/ fast PP talk by 2 men; then a station w/ SS
female vocal - most likely YVLB per previous performance - took over.
Brazil and a low-pitched growl receded into the background. A check
of the channel about midnight local (0400 UTC) just showed WYFX o/
WHO, so "timing is everything" it would seem. [Connelly*Y-MA]
1100 ANTIGUA, ZDK, St. Johns, MAY 19 0451 - clear ID "ZDK AM and FM", then
the Caribbean-accented DJ played calypso / reggae type music. This
seemed to have been silent (or running very low power) for the last
two (or so) years. They must have mended whatever technical problem
they'd been having: the signal was quite good w/ WWWE nulled. It's
good to see this country readily loggable once again on MW.
[Connelly*Y-MA]
1170 COLOMBIA, CARACOL, HJNW, Cartagena, MAY 19 0528 - CARACOL ID, SS
Colombian news; good w/ WWVA nulled. [Connelly*Y-MA]
1180 CUBA, R. Taino, Villa Maria, MAY 19 0501 - R. Taino ID, then big-band
Latin American music. Dominant. [Connelly*Y-MA]
1190 COLOMBIA, HJCT, Barranquilla, MAY 19 0322 - jumble of SS Latin
Americans (in WOWO null) yielded an ID that I'm 99% sure was "La Voz
de la Costa". There's quite a bit of action on this channel once you
null out the "pest from the Midwest". Things won't be as easy when
WLIB goes fulltime. [Connelly*Y-MA]

HAVE BEEN RECEIVED.
I wish to thank everybody who has already contributed to this list!
(3) Any comments or ideas on getting more prices are also most welcome. Of
