The Electronic DX Press (EDXP) is an electronic newsletter,
compiled on a voluntary, non-commercial, basis by Bob Padula,
of Melbourne, Australia. The author, himself a practising
professional communications engineer, has been actively involved
with the DXing movement in editorial or managerial capacities,
for some 40 years, including the Australian Radio DX Club
Incorporated since its inception in June 1965. He holds the
Australian Government distinction of the Medal of the Order of
Australia, (OAM) for services rendered in a voluntary capacity
to shortwave radio.
The EDXP had been produced under the auspices of the Australian
Radio DX Club, but is no longer linked to any DXing organization.
It seeks to provide timely and topical news and information to
shortwave hobbyists on shortwave broadcasting (2300 kHz to 26,100
kHz), focused on:
* Schedule updates
* New stations
* New transmitters
* Planned new stations/transmitters
* New addresses for stations
* Schedule analyses
* Schedules not readily or easily available
* Spectrum usage
* New DX programs
* Shortwave media and publications
* International broadcasting engineering activity
* International frequency and transmission plannning
* Responsible discussion on shortwave broadcasting and
transmission
EDXP will NOT cover loggings, QSLs, commonly available
schedules, Internet-audio, utility or amateur communications.
No charge is made for EDXP. EDXP members are folk who who are
interested in shortwave broadcasting from the perspective of
spectrum occupancy analysis, orderly/planned reception reporting
for QSLs, propagation studies, frequency recommendation projects,
frequency surveys, and specialized technical monitoring. Some of
these needs are catered for by the DX Club movement, but large
gaps exist which can now be usefully supported via inexpensive
electronic delivery of information.
EDXP members are obliged to contribute news and information on
a regular basis, to maintain their eligibility to continue to
receive the newsletters. No hard-copy verisons of EDXP are
available, and there are no membership fees.
The first edition of the independent EDXP has been distributed
worldwide, and persons interested in participating are invited
to contact the undersigned, and a copy of the latest EDXP will
be sent via e-mail. Participation Guidelines and FAQ will be
provided with the newsletter!
Your interest is welcomed, irrespective of your geographical
location or DX Club affiliation.
